After months of planning the day of departure is looming.
Only 5 more sleeps and we are off on our first big trip.
We were leaving on Sat  but as that is kerry's birthday, family and friends got together and organised a farwell / birthday dinner so Sunday is now the day.
4 days left at work, no motivation to be here, hoping the days will fly but knowing they won't.

course the next few days will be like a month, but at least it will give you the time to check and check again that all is onboard, oncluding Gary,

well I went home for lunch, grabbed my plate and knife and fork had a look in the fridge grabbed the leftover kfc and a coke,
 
the dragon comes home an just glares, "hullo" say I, "hmmmph!!! says she, 

now I'm not the sharpest knife in the cutlery draw but I could tell that something was not quite right here "whats up",................ "you dont remember do you",............... oh hell, think man think!!! birthday, no thats in june, I put the rubbish out last night, hell emptied the bin, fed the dogs, oh JEEEEEZZZ!!!! I'm clutching at straws here. 

she's just sitting at the other end of the table glaring at me,............... "you really dont remember do you"............. I thought oh bloody hell cant be that important, I dont forget important dates, what the hell is she on about. "all right I'll bight' whats so important about today that I should know about"........................... cold silence, hard stare, oh boy it's a biggy, 

what have I done this time, jeezzz!!! I hate that got up had a look at the calender, bloody hell I'm a dead man, it's our 30th wedding anniversary...........slink back to the table, think man think, she cant know that I forgot our wedding anniversary......... **** what do I do........ ahhh!!! my stash of uneaten choccys, 

"did you have a look in the cupboard dear"........."no I havent"......... I got up and grabbed a box of cadbury favourites out of the cupboard and said "here you are darling and happy anniversary".............."oh!!!! you remembered, I knew you wouldnt forget"......I went back to work knowing that all is well in the old homestead, but if she ever finds out then on that very day I am indeed a dead man!!!

and Kerry we would like to wish you a very happy birthday and an even happier time when you leave for your well deserved break!!! we hope you have the time of your life

mate you are a dead man, absolutley stone cold dead man!! do you honestly believe the dragon is so naive she will swollow that load of trollop you just told her??? c'mon give us females some credability, as if you going to the cupboard and pulling out a box of choccies will do the trick, believe me it won't,  Come on all you females out there married 30 years or more -  back me up!!! I would suggest after your KFC & coke lunch you go shopping and buy her a decent pressie - book table at her favourite restaurant then whisper sweet nothings in her ear !!!

well thanks for that sue and Brian and yes it was just wishfull thinking on my part, she rang me at work, conversation went something like this "hello this is *****, Dave speaking how may I be of service".................. "hello darling"................. oh gawd what now "oh hello dear did you miss me already"..............."did you really think I was that naive"...............humana, humana, "of course not dear"............ " I have already booked a table in launceston for the sunday night"..........."thats good, I knew you wouldnt leave it at 12 month old chocolates, not for thirty years of marriage, bye".........damn she sprung me by the date on the box, bloody smartass women!!!! always one step ahead!!
