My elcheapo $80 camera via EBay went on the fritz and I was wandering around Bunnings and they were selling Swann miniature outdoor cams for $79.95 so rather than get another from ebay I bought one of these. Far better picture, ( less distortion) far better low light illumination and better quality than the EBay one.... Mind you I have not taken it out of the drive way yet but the view of the garage is quite superb.....

well if you can see it I guess in theory that means you wont be running into it eh!! Basil???? cybil will be pleased and a bit more safe when she is guiding you in.
I can remember the dragon guiding me in years ago, hands waving all over the place and screaming at me, I only understood a little, she said something about winding the bloody window down and turning off the radio or somesuch nonsensical dribble
how do you find the depth of Field issue, most I have used are like a left hand car mirror "objects may be closer than they appear"
watched a couple in the clare c/park a fair while ago trying to get the van in, well what a shimozzle that was, absolutely wet myself laughing, spilt my cuppa all over myself, ended up with three people guiding this poor old bugger in, two were injured during the process, his wife nearly got run over, hit the shin of this other old feller nearly run him over. still didnt get the van in even after the ambulance left
ahhh!!! the simple entertainment that a park can bring, amuses me for hours watching people putting up awnings and leveling vans, simple pleasures are always the best!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a set of reversing cameras from a mob online called "safety dave" cost about $495 that was for two cameras with sound, moniter and all the cables. you can set them up to show revers picture or turned around as you would see through your mirror very good clarrity

This one has a 90 deg view and the picture is much clearerererer. The beauty of this is that I can back the van onto a site without any matrimonial distress at all I simply ask Sybil to act as marker and stand her at the centre of where I want the van to end up, aim for her navel and ignore her hand signals.... I do agree though when the new arrivals turn up it's time to pull up a chair, grab a beer and settle down for the entertainment....

Sounds like a goer, how about scanning the pic on the box so i know what I'm looking for . When I go to Bunnings it's like letting a kid lose in a lollie shop I get distracted and leave with everything but what I went there for I'm now restricted to 10 minutes for Bunnings and 15 for BCF and no credit or debit cards. Spoil sport

Second question . Want type of monitor are you using is it top dash mounted or in dash
just a word on the wireless systems you will see on sale..... Don't bother using them in a mobile situation, there are too many other gadgets around using the same frequencies as these and they swamp your system giving you a very poor picture. I've tried 2 and they were no good especially in heavy traffic (when you need them on the back of your van the most), mediocre to OK in non urban areras. Besides all that you still have to get power to the camera so running the extra bit of wire for the video is not the problem.

And are these not the best thing you can put on the back of your van? It does scare me a bit at times when some idiots get so close I can't see the rego number in the monitor.... But they make hitching and backing your van a breeze compared to the hand waving etc....

One of the best ideas I ever saw was in the caravan park at Leonora in the WA Goldfields. (stop me if you've heard this).
This guy had fitted a towball to his bull-bar and simply un-hitched, turned his vehicle around and hitched up on the front and with one go he was in and lined up perfectly. I thought it was brilliant!!!

For anyone interested here is a good setup; mirror monitor (no dash mounting) and Camera.... Make an offer, I'll bet if you offered $150 you would get it, based on the fact that a mate did and won.... But you are not sposed to tell anyone as these blokes are hard done by, these things cost them $27 yuan.....
