Jim started this, and was followed by Granney, but I lost it, memory aint what it used to be The idea of a place of our own has a lot of merit, as has the I D on the car, Maybe their is a town seeking more custom for its shops from the travveling public to donate a large tract of ground within their shire for the purpose of a gathering, Recall the town of Dunolly donating blocks of ground in an industrial part of town, worked a treat, It wpuld have to be quite big, remember the record set by the CMCA at Barcaldine There is a lot of wanderers on the road, Is their a publiscist on the forum wonder where this will go from here

Makes you wonder how the Birdsville races got started, we tryed to get a bike run started at the Hatfield Pub north of Balranald in NSW
It's a small pub on its own in the middle of ? had an air strip and not much else, the only trouble it was hardly ever open, had a chiller for roo shooters. There are a lot of those small remote pubs standing out on their own around the country, don't know how they make a quid.
Donald in Vic were offering cheap blocks too, but you had to build on them, a ot of country towns are dying because of the drought, then soon as someone shows some interest in them the greedy locals jack up the price.
I bought Two houses and six ajoining blocks for $15,000 at Lascelles, North east of Hopetoun, and sold out when I got the yachtand went cruising, no bargins left now, except if you want to live at the gem fields

You dont want to bet on that now Jim, they are advertising a one bedrooom shack on a claim at 70,000 now, but with the rates and rental the way they are its a whole lot betterer than the average c/park place

I knew you would cath that one Mike, what are you doing on the computer? you should be in the drive sending up some wash for Judy, and you could get a pump into gear if it's too wet down there.
Or are you waiting for me to turn up and do some digging?

At last some grey cells are making a connection, you being in the wet so to speak, are quite accustomed to paddling in the mud, where as over the last few years I have got my gems out of the dust,
Awaiting your rig ??????

Wherever we decide to meet has to be equipped with water, power etc to make it attractive to everyone. There are some camping grounds around this country, ususally in the vicinity of the town's oval or sporting grounds complex, where we can have a fire pit or camp fire,
some shelter, lots of space to conduct the cricket match (joking - or not).
If GN's started to register their interest, stating where they may be travelling from to assemble, we could then look at a suitable central location. Murray Bridge was another good spot. Or somewhere out the back of Broken Hill. Keep the ideas coming so we can all see what you're thinking, put the destination and time to the vote, and it will be on for young and older. Maybe you could fly us all in Jim.
Cheers Granny

hey this is good, though maybe a little ahead of its self
To own a property is streching things a little, not beyond, but ahead of itself
why not concentrate on the here and now and start small, never loose sight of the goal post but get some milstones on the board first
I suggest that we look at the "record attempt" on which i played a part. We could not get 42 members to log on, let alone get enough to own a property
I would suggest that we just nominate a time and place, central NSW and see. Broken hill comes to mind, or Goondawindi (just cause I like the name). I say the first of spring, whatever that is, adjust it for school holidays and say GO. Then promote it just on GN, and see
As I side issue, my last travels had me free camping outside of some remote town. I thought, if a band of GN decided to come to this town and MAKE a free camp, for all, it would help the town. This wondered off to, make it an annual event - pick a town that needed help and just rock up, leaving our good deeds behind for others - sponsorship was also considered to be positive

Maybe to get ALL together is difficult, so what say we start small and do it state by state,
This is a big country and some of us will find it inconvient to wander south or north at the drop of a hat
So why not meet in the centre of each state ,
All banana benders meet in Rocky,
The last time I stopped there was at the Gracemere c/Park, seems to have the room and fairly inexpensive???

G'day Dave,
If you have MSN messenger on your pc then it is quite a simple matter to chat to someone who also has Messenger and is on line at that time.
In Messenger go to Actions/Audio/Video/Start an Audio conversation.
Hope this helps. John

G'Day John and Wendy.
Sounds like fun, Skype is good, have to draw a line with camera's though.
Don't want some Fossil bareing all, antique exhibitions should stay in museums , (giggel giggle)
I wonder why some one hasn't put out a Nomads magazine, so all the other old farts that can't drive (and all our international friends) can read all about fun things on the wallaby, sooner we get a club and arse end stickers on the go the better.
I'm increasing the font size so you all can read this without your glasses to save wearing them out.

G'Day smokey.
I'm still tryin to find that site.
After my drive down to Vic from Tully I seen a lot of Nomads on the track with all sorts of rigs and asked a few if they got onto the Grey Nomad site, and no they never heard of it.
So looks like there is a need for an arse end sticker, there is possibly a lot of nomads out there that know about us and need to.
So as to break downs what would most Nomads do if they were out of action for a while? dose insurance cover site rental?
If we had a data base of members propertys that could assist with an emergency camp while waiting repairs for example.
All the rest areas along the way are still filthy but a few you can sneek off into the scrub to get some privacy.

Just copy and pasted this to the address bar then hit enter and it worked. Came up with a login page so I put in my name from here and it went straight to a chat room so I typed hello and it worked. No one else was there though.
Perhaps you should name a time that suits you Dave and see what happens.
