Not the Pathfinder!
Parts are hard to get and too expensive, and take a long time, according to Pathfinder owners I have talked to. They're not happy but can't afford to change.
The Ford of its equal is also not recommended.
Your choice, but I'd do the Prado before the Pajero.

Pickup and new Pathfinder Wednesday went through the exercise with the full range of 4WD's and it suited my needs only intend to keep them till the last year of the warranty so parts shouldn't be a problem if it is then it goes and I buy something else.

I'm a Nissan owner (Patrol)
My buy would be the 3 Litre TD Prado.
My understanding is the braked tow capacity is 2500kg.
Has good fuel ecconomy.
New Pajero I believe has 3000kg braked towing.
Pajero has a lot of bang for your buck.
Only downfall is the mono chassis.
PAthfinder produces a lot of KW and nm from a small 2.5 litre diesel.
Gotta wonder if it works too hard.
