I bought this program this morning and have struck a small problem in that when entering my vehicle details, there is no ' OK ' button (there's no Cancel button there either) at the bottom to save the vehicle to the data base.
Am I missing something or is there another way of entering the vehicle details or has the OK button flown the coop?
I have sent an email to Support but thought I may receive a quicker reply via this forum.
hi neil & lynne. have a look on there web site,i think you will find there is a update,to your program. that will fix this

now hit me if I'm stating the obvious but isnt that a "back" arrow right down the bottom, or perhaps you could hit delete
or maybe if all else fails then ctrl/alt/delete then shut it off and go have a beer

I knew this forum would be quick!
Thanks KenMarg, heading over there now to check.
Dave, Neil nearly spat the dummy and beat you to that beer.
That is an arrow type thing down the bottom but everything is greyed out.

Have you tried tabbing to each box? Some of these things are programmed to be accessed stage by stage by tabbing ie the TAB button on the left side of your keyboard.
Otherwise I can't understand why you can't get around and enter your details.
Have you tried getting out of it and starting again?
Are you sure it's not the "example" of the form? The one you've attached looks like an example rather than the actual blank form you are to fill in.
The real form may be in another place on the programme.
Good luck with that. Cheers Chris

Thanks for all your replies, that problem is now sorted with help from 'Support'.
It appears I was in the Vehicle screen, not the New Vehicle screen.
KenMarg, I'm pretty sure I have the latest version of the software loaded.
You are right Chris, the attached image is of the sample screen to explain more clearly what I couldn't see. Well, that was the plan anyway.
I did "shut it off " for awhile Dave, but for a glass or 2 of red wine, not a beer...LOL. Felt much more clear headed after that.
I have a couple other issues as well but I will email support tomorrow, it is probably something I am doing wrong again. Lol
Cheers

I was speaking to the womble (Mick), up in Darwin, on the phone and he said to me that he just bought the nomads notes, he gave me a little trick to use when purchasing the software
in the discount code in the shopping cart section enter "exploreoz" and you will get the notes 20% cheaper ($10 off) making it $40
just thought I would pass that on to you all!!

Too late Dave. Still I think it was worth it at the full price anyway. Thanks and hopefully others will benefit.

Guru says thanks for asking Dave. He's firing on all cylinders. Even went fishing yesterday. In general I am very please and somewhat amazed at his recovery. Such major and long surgery usually takes a lot longer than this for one to recover. All systems ahead now. Can't wait for October when we are off up to Townsville for the Caribou airplane bash.

I purchased Nomad NOtes about 12 months ago and I can't get it to work.
Others have it and it works fine for them.

I tried out this software a year or so ago and was most disappointed. It often "hung" when using it on my desktop (XP home), was more stable on my laptop (XP Pro) but still very "clunky" I thought. It lacked adequate error trapping routines and sometimes would lock up or just not work if data was not entered correctly. I also felt it was not very intuitive to use.
I had no problem obtaining a refund from the supplier.
I use MS Word if I want to write up any diary notes (I'm rather slack when it comes to "paperwork"). MS Excel for keeping track of fuel/accommodation expenses. Adobe Photoshop Album that comes with PS Elements for cataloguing pictures. There is plenty of other software that can be used instead of the MS Office products.

We purchased it and were disappointed too. Didnt bother loading it into the laptop for this trip. But it was Mr D (who is usually very nerdy with computers) who tried it out, so I cant say why he didnt like it. It was my christmas gift to him so doubly disappointing.

I was going to buy Nomad Notes but the unfavourable comment here has made me think of creating my own program based on the free Open Office platform.
I was up early this morning working out the formulas to do the maths for fuel consumption and costs. I now have a file which will calculate (1) kms travelled (2) kms per ltr (3) ltrs of fuel for 100 kms and the cost, (4) progressively calculate the overall trip fuel cost. It is necessary to enter the starting/closing kms, amount/cost of fuel and the ltr price.
The presentation program is easily made into folders with photos per state or location which can be stored and viewed as a slide show whilst files can be created in the text programs for notes and preparations for blog and forum posts.
If anyone wants a copy of the fuel file I will be happy to forward it with usage notes just PM me with an email address.

We use an Excel spreadsheet to record our fuel consumption, and have it set up to calculate anything you could possibly want in this area (and probably several things you don't want). We also use Excel to record our towing distances, so we know how far the van has been and when it is due for a bearing service.

I also bought the progam and eventually gave up. It was simply driving me nuts. I spent untold hours trying to attach pictures to trips but i was just too hard.

I use a excel spreadsheet as well
I have one page for the fuel purchases that show purchases in ltrs and $ for current and last month as well as totals and averages for the year and summary of last year.
In expenses I enter purchases and select a category and then in weekly and monthly reports it totals per category. I do a monthly download from my banks and then fill in the data needed.
I also have a budget section where it compares this years monthly figures compared to last years.
I have a page for maintenance and parts bought etc.
I tried a program called Aussie Travelogue but found the spread sheet did all I wanted as I don't need the web page for blog etc as I prefer to keep my travels etc to myself and then I don't get into trouble when I change plans.
Am I missing something or is there another way of entering the vehicle details or has the OK button flown the coop?
I have sent an email to Support but thought I may receive a quicker reply via this forum.
Thanking you
