I was Talking to jock about the Berlin wall this morning and how today was the 20Th anniversary of it's fall, he then looked at me and said "thats how I got my bent back"
he has suffered from a reallly bad back for years,(why I am always on hand to lend a hand, wont take charity as he calls the pension)
I said "how did you get your crook back, I thought it was too much work",
he said "no I was shot in the back while climbing over that bloody thing, glad to see it come down",
he didnt say anything else, didnt need to, I've known this old feller for a lifetime, one of our closest freinds and yet I had no idea
we are so lucky to live in a country that is ruled by freedom and not dominated by dictators, we can walk or drive down the street or any where in australia and not get questioned or asked for a passport and not see a tank or weapon of any kind,
we take this for granted and assume that everyone we speak to or meet has had the same privilige, we owe a lot of this to our service men and women who in some cases paid the ultimate price for a life of freedom and still are
just a thought from my glass castle!!

I was actually in Germany (not Berlin tho) on that day, and I later got myself a piece of wall with grafiti on one side. Big day!
Cheers, Peter

Yes a momentus day.... bad news for me though, it was the begining of the end - no cold war; no job. Still for the Germans who have been through enough self induced conflict it was a true miracal and gift.....
