This system is used by a lot of bush trakka owners &outbacb travellers .
As we know alloy clading on a van sheilds signal.
A metre high phone ant mounted on the side of the arm of the Winnguard tv ant ,run cable down with the tv cable & connect to phone or internett.
When you wind the tv ant down ,the phone ant lies down flat on the roof,
I have a couple of mates with this on their trakkas & works very well .
can be applied to any winnguard ant.

As we have a pop top & no winnguard ,I mounted a 2.2 mtr ZCG SCALAR   TC1600A.
to the end of our solar pannel rack on a spring tensioned fold down bracket.
We have seen a phone signal of 1bar in van go to 6bars when connected .
Internett works very well also.From no service to mid strength signal .

Hi justcruzin , Yes its the best thing and if you use one of the (FARMERSPHONE) from telstra it has its own modem and is just great.. they do hear better than a standed phone.. And the best place to get a cheap 9db phone antena is at the wreckers .. some times anyhow... have one on the van and have worked internet at some 50 plus ks... have a full call amateur ticket.. just love playing with this sort of thing.. make life interesting...i did make up a small beam on the phone freq. some time back .. worked real good but a pain to set up..by the way ITS RAINING ....bobbev

         I done my own ,the mats with the trakkas had it done by  a installer .

 

Telstra gave a talk at a caravan show in Brisbane on antennas ,they recommend all caravans should be fitted with antennas if you want to use your mobile inside your van

Telstra would be looking at their gain ,we just look after our own .
