Mildura is currently suffering a Fruitfly plague. Even though it is a permanent fruit exclusion area, roads in and out are not usually manned. Our daughter works for the Dept. of Primary Industry there, and has been rostered on to the team going out doing vineyard and household checks. Road blocks may be in place in the near future.

There used to be road blocks in the Mildura approaches as in the one at Yamba on the way into SA. I believe they were remove by the Vic State Gov as a cost cutting measure years ago. There was one at Albury/Wodonga on the Hume Highway in the early 70's but that was taken out as well. Time we had them back. Yes they are a pain but I prefer to have cheaper and healthy fruit.

Is there still a road block between Mildura and Renmark on the SA side? I've been through there twice in the last 4 years but things do change.

There is Granny, well back in 2004 there was and it is still mentioned in the web site. The one on the Murray Valley Highway is just before the roadhouse at Yamba SA. We forgot about them last time through and lost a heap of vegies, fruit etc. Also there is a post at Pinaroo on the Mallee Highway.

Yamba SA is manned 24 hours a day and they do check cars and vans right over . Pinnaroo is ad hoc .
