Yes i know the problem what I do put them on has tight has I can drive for a while pull over when you can and click onto the next knock a bit of pain I think the teeth on cog are too wide apart and the belt also seems stretch a bit so that why I think click the ratchet one more click might not fix your problem but works for me

thanks for your help...I have done what you said but I think it is more the mirror itself and if I tighten the nut which holds the mirrors onto the bracket/arm I was wondering how tight can I tighten the nut....(can they be over tightened) could I strip the thread...

May need to talk to your supplier see what they can do, if they over tighten it they will have to give you a replacement

Could be that I am expecting too much of them also...I do have to admit that I bought a set at the last caravan & camping show and had the same problem so this week decided to buy another set ..yep you guessed it same thing happens..the first set I bought which I only used once ..I just thought they may have been faulty but when thissecond set also does it but not as bad I just thought maybe I am doing something wrong. All I know is Im not buying a 3rd set hehehe.

Hi Escape Had the same prob so fitted a camera to the back of the van. Still have the extension mirrors on to satisfy the legalitys but are hard to see out of when traveling, but the camera is easy to see doesnt viabrate.  Cheers Daryl

Aw, poor escape, those mirrors aren't cheap. I'm not taking the micky, I'm feeling sorry you've been caught out twice with similar mirrors. I have the type which fits onto existing external mirrors on the end of a chrome bar which straps firmly over the mirror. I had to make a couple of modifications with cable ties to stop the mirror flip inward when a truck goes past. They don't vibrate, or I don't see it anyway. Been all around and going good so far. And they were quite a bit cheaper than the door type, and don't leave any marks on the body work. I also feel that those door mounted mirrors are too far behind my periferal vision to keep an eye on the sides and back. That's my problem with a camera - it doesn't see what's along side when you're on multi-lane highways, in the 'burbs, or someone is overtaking. Good luck and have fun with those mirrors.

I'd bolt them on, Get some of those sheet metall stud things from Bunnings, drill the holes in the door and bolt them on.

Yeah, we are reasonably recent travellers and we have the same type of mirrors.  Apart from making sure the little screw under the mirror is nice and tight, that's all I have to offer.  We tighten the mirrors up but depending upon the type of road, they still vibrate to a certain degree.  The only other thing you can do is turn the music up.

Do you have the top 'hook' between the glass and the rubber or the rubber and the metal of the door?

You'll get a lot less vibration with the latter.

We had the hook between the glass and the rubber.  So we'll try the other way.  We are going to Adelaide for a month in May so we'll give it a shot.
