To start off, big wave to everyone who has allready stayed here. You know who you are. Especially to Robert & Denise who told me to do this. Hehe didnt think i was payin much attention did you. A special invite to any travellers passing through Pt Augusta to duck over the range and pay us a visit in Wilmington. As we have reopened the ol Wilmington Bush Camp and Caravan park now renamed Stony Creek Bush Camp Caravan Park. We have kept our rates as cheap as we can to please the tightest budget. $7.50 pp per night. Hot showers, flushing toilets, bbq pit, $5 laundry (wash and dry), bunkhouse to sleep 8 and soon to be finished is the camp kitchen. Even tho our rates are cheap, every dollar spent goes back into the park to make it better for the next time you wheel in. We just want to keep the park alive as the other parks in the general area seem to fall by the wayside and close up. It would be a shame to see so many parks close their gates and the ones left are so full as to not allow travellers in.

Have to add it to my list....not to sure where it is, but hopefully it's on a map.
Only been to S A once for 10 days...enjoyed the quieter roads.

We are new to this forum but hope to have some input and to get some good information too. Good to hear that you have reopened the park. We have not stayed there but took a drive out there last time we were in town and thought it was going to waste as it is such a great spot. We will definitely stay there on our next trip to the Flinders which will hopefully be as soon as we get our new van.

Please forgive me for not replying earlier. No excuses. This park is very much a pet friendly enviroment, as we too have our little doorbell who cannot stand being away from us and vice-versa. I will mention the fact we do have a large population of goannas that do protect themselves from dogs curiosity that, in turn, can result in a rather nasty scratch. Standard rules apply with pets. Please clean up and control if needed.

.. Well folks ..
I've just enjoyed almost two weeks at this quiet Bush Camp. In that time, I've really enjoyed the friendship and hospitallty of both Wayne and his family.
This Bush Camp, I hope, will retain its 'rustic' outlook as there is considerable ongoing activity adding new toilets and relocating power and water lines. Lotsa room here !
Further activites from 'Paintball' warfare to R/C Model Car Racing are now on the board for the near future.
Powered ($15.00) and unpowered sites ($10.00) .. camp kitchen .. bunkhouses .. and with hot showers and a laundry for your use .. all only just 3.5 k's from Wilmington down a gravel road.
I would suggest you contact them if you intend to stop over. I'm not sure what (if any) restrictions will be inplace as the onsite activities continues .. Who knows, you could get a special price consideration .. I did !
For those concerned, I have no personal investment here .. other than the good time I had ..
Thank you and the best of luck Wayne !
Jon

Thanks Dave & Jon for such a kind review, I'm sorry to have missed you when you left Dave, as I was preparing for the Australia Day celebrations (taste testing the beer) in town. The high winds that come in didnt seem too bad in town but i see all the branches down and tree bark strewn around the place when i woke the next day. Hope it didnt 'put the wind up you' too much. The campers in the two 4x4's didnt get much sleep in it. Shame it didnt drop a bit more rain than the 30sec shower we got. Having been here a whole year now, I think I'm getting used to the unsettling weather that comes through the region. It was this time last year we had temps above 38c (40-45) for 13 days. Another record breaker. Anyways just wanted to wish you the best in your travels, so happy trails and look forward to seeing you all again one day.
