Just reporting back on line after 6 weeks working at Arkaroola and then a very enjoyable week travelling up the Oodnadatta track with Gary and Kerry. Our flight over Lake Eyre was great. We have continued on up to Alice which is very busy. Gary and Kerry went on to Dalhousie Springs and then going back down to work in the Flinders again. Boy it was nice to feel the bitumen under our tyres today.

Good to hear of your adventures.
What were the roads like, especially with the van around Arkaroola? Did you take the van on the Oodnadatta Track?

Granny, The roads weren't too bad. Going in to Arkaroola the road from Copley was closed so had to go in through Blinman. Did get bogged in sand in one creek bed but the next couple along helped pull us out. The last 4 kms into Arkaroola is the worst. Very corrugated. There is a current petition going to have it made. Arkaroola are no longer allowed to put their grader along it. It is the State gov. responsibility. On the way out the road to Copley was fine. A few shallow water crossings thats all. You would be amazed at some of the vehicles that turned up there.Small sedans with very little clearance. But then we got bushtrackers in which had ripped out all their pipes underneath.
We took our van up the Oodnadatta track. It was a bit hairy at times but any water crossings we sent Gary and Kerry thru first to check the depth and the quality of the base. They didn't take their van, just a small tent. We had a great time!!!!!
