Hi All, We've now been retired for three months and have had a trip to Kalbarri (WA). Met up with John and Irona (JRH) who were set up next to us at the Anchorage Caravan Park. John noticed our Grey Nomads (free) sticker and struck up a conversation (funny that, how we caravanners just seem to do that, yet we hardly know or talk to our neighbours where we live). Well, we've been back in Perth for a few weeks and now are leaving for Quobba (80 kms north of Carnarvon) on Tue 27th July, where we'll be free camping for some three weeks. Then after a leisurely journey back to Perth, we'll get organised for our big one across the Nullarbor to SA, Vic, Tassie, NSW and Qld, leaving in mid September. To say we're looking forward to it would be an understatement! We'll keep you posted... Going Gone (Judy and Ben) PS. Hope you read this JRH and we wish you all the best during your travels.

All you travellers who post your stories of your travels (and travails!) are doing a wonderful service for those of us at home wishing/planning.
Thank you, and keep up the posts!!!

Hi everyone,
Yep, we too are on the road at the moment, but only for a 'short hop' around Qld. At present we are in Townsville visiting daughter & s-i-law, and to get the bestest belated birthday presents you could imagine - we are to be grandparents in March next year!!!
although we have travelled the coast road numerous times, from Thursday we really start our adventure by taking four days to head out to Mt Isa (Lake Moondarra) before heading south down to Charleville, and regrettably back to the coast and home and that rotten word 'work'. But, come end of year, look out, we hope to be 'on the road' basically permanently - just us and 'Crosby'.

I love Quobba. I didn't camp there but I spent hours watching the blow holes and the rapids as the tide comes into the cove between the headland and the island by the fishing camp.
The fish behave really funny in the fast flowing water.
It's a beautiful place.

It's been a very busy, bumper tourist season here in Cairns. The park I'm in has used the overflow area for the first time in 6 years. The owner is smiling all the way to the bank.
The cabins have been busy too.
I live in the back corner of the park, and don't get a chance to chat to everyone day by day, but I usually say "g'day" to the South Aussies and Sand Gropers from the west.
So far I've met friends of friends, team mates of family members and other relatives from both states.
It's a very small world when we put wheels under us. And it's just like being home when talking to people who are familiar with "home", wherever it is.
The only thing about catching up with fellow GN's is there are several parks in this region, and particularly in Cairns, and it's not possible to catch up the everyone carrying stickers. So it's a chance meeting in most cases.
If there are any nomads out there in Cairns at the moment, or heading this way, leave a PM if you'd like to catch up for a chat.
Yes, this travelling stuff is good stuff. Even though I've been off the road for 2 years, I'm looking forward to hitching up in October if all goes according to the non-plan.
See you out there somewhere.
