I got one of these from Aldi yesterday for, (i think) $22, I now have three of them, as we travel with 2, 9kg and one 4.5kg gas bottles the 4.5 being a standby. Personally, I think they are worth the money especially as when the guage gets into the red I know that I have one more days worth of gas on the van fridge. A quick google search gave me three prices $43.00, $37.50 and $24.00. So, my thinking is that at $22.00 they are a good buy at Aldi. Does anyone else use them? And if so, what is your opinion of them? cheers Pete

We have been using this Gas Fuse for many years. We have two on the van, one on the house BBQ and also one on the heater on the back porch.
Aldi price is good, as the best we have come across was $29 at Bunnings though that was a while ago.
On other Forums people argue that because they work on pressure they will not give an indication as to the level of gas remaining in your bottle. However we have found that you can watch the gauge gradually move down from the yellow full zone to the red refill zone, where as you say it is very very close to changing bottles. So with experience they do give you a good guide as to how much gas you have left, unless the bottle is in full sun on a hot day where you seem to "gain" some extra gas, LOL.

I have them too........but I cant find any that are for the small outlet on 1-3 and 4.5kg....after all they still are gas

I have an Aldi one I bought a year ago which stays on the gas lead that transfers from one 4.5k bottle to the other

My understanding of the gas fuse is they only work when installed near perfectly horizontal. A few years ago there was a model made that suited the smaller L.H thread bottles but because the instructions are not clear about the horizontal installation there were a lot of problems with that unit and i guess that is why you can no longer find that model. I sell the unit at work and from memory cost retailers about $16.00 plus GST so any price less than about $25.00 would be a good one.

Dave, you can buy an adaptor for the smaller bottle outlets at camping stores etc, these adaptors are also handy for connecting the smaller bottle to you caravan gas inlet if ever you need to use them.
