Some of the older residents talk about the day it snowed on Christmas day in Canberra! But no, it wont snow, the forecast is for a continuation of this cold wind and showers for a few more days. We are packing to go away but it looks just as bad where we are heading.
Hope you enjoy the Nations Capital, its really a beautiful city in spite of the weather!

Hi Folks,
Suggest just ignoring the first response to this post. (not the OP) I feel sure it will be removed in due course.

Sorry, don,t understand what kiri is talking about. Its 35c and 75% humidity here, Maggy island, Qld,and I am worshiping the god of airconditioning, ans cricket. A cold beer helps, too.

Is it true that Nativity scenes have been banned in Canberra this Xmas?
I hear that this is not due to any religious or political correctness but that they are unable to find three wise men.
Also they are still looking for a virgin.
however there is no shortage of donkeys for the stable.
(ok Canberrans I'm only joking!)

Good one Jim - isn't it a requirment to have a sense of humour when observing life in general!! Especially listening and watching those 'in power'!!!
Lived in Canberra for many years, yes it is a lovely city and no I never want to live here again - give me the open roads anyday!!
It will still be a great Christmas, after all life is what you make it and I like to enjoy people and life.

Fortunately those of whom you speak Jim only work part-time in Canberra, then go home to the rest of Australia. They still give us an iffy reputation though!

I'm with you Bill. One million degrees and a squidillion percent humidity today here in Cairns. Will be spending Christmas day at Wonga Beach Caravan Park (the older one) trying to catch a breeze. Thank god for beer!

See you later everybody, we are off to hot steamy Queensland for Christmas.
The warmth of family makes up for the uncomfortable climate!
Hope you all have a good one!! Safe travels
