I am at the point of purchasing a generator as a backup to the 120watt solar panel
My preference at this point is a honda EU20i
the reason is reliability and servicability.
The best deal I can find is online fom gen place and includes 5 year wtty dust cover security cable and free delivery for $1999.00
Just wondered if anybody out there know's of them being sold cheaper with or without the extra's

Hi Peter Rosemary & Ollie,
we got our Honda 20i at the Perth show 2 years ago and it was on special for $1800 with a cable lock and cover, suggest you go to a show if one is around at the moment.
Have a honda e20 it has done many many hours no trouble just oil changes starts easy every time

Hi Peter & Rose, We bought one at the Melb caravan show and while we have not used it a lot yet the rimes we have it has been great. The caravan shows are the best place to get the deals but that price looks good. We bought ours from the generator place. Just have to keep an eye on the oil changes but that's very easy. Enjoy

Hello
Why buy a big generator if it is only a backup. I purchased a 1.5 kva generator brand new from ebay $300 I only want it to charge up the battery's occasionally so why pay a fortune

the Honda 20i will run an air conditioner, that's why most people go for that one

2KVA is just over 8 Amps ac so the aircon would be about the limit on start up for most of the older aircons. I like them up to about 2.5 KVA that gives me that margin little over 10 Amps

Hi Peter and Rosemary I purchased an Eu20 Honda from The Generator Place at the Melbourne Caravan and Camping Show 2 years ago for $1750 bare, no extras. I have used it a few times with the van and as a backup for power blackouts at home. They are a very good unit. Just one thing to remember is to place the generator on a mat or some material to act a barrier between the gen set and the ground. It reduces the amount of dust entering the electronic components and therefore costly repairs. From observing a well used model in the repair shop that running them higher that idle will reduce the amount of carbon build up in the cylinder head. They seem to work better with a load on they, not necessary full throttle.
