Companies that hire campervans will be required to take and disclose details so the new fines can be enforced. The $200 fines can be issued to parked vehicles even if no-one is present.
I think this is a bit of a grey area...

So, somebody might park their motor home at a location banned for camping, they park & go for a bush walk or to take photographs of an attraction & when they return theres a $200 fine for their effort.
Meanwhile the guy parked 3 spaces down in his Toyota Hiace with dark tinted windows and a mattress in the back, can do the same & not get a fine.
Seems fair to me NOT!
This is the sort of nonesense I was talking about in my other post

I will have to ask my brother about that, he has a motorhome and free camps all over when they go travelling.

Could be a foretaste of things to come here. Unfortunately there are those who abuse the roadside rest areas and they spoil it for the rest of us. Those who set up camp in town areas or day use only areas deserve to fined, especially in parking areas at boat ramps set aside for boat trailer parking.

Just found out the other day some changes are being considered in Tassy about free camp spots. It appears that some people are abusing these sites and not cleaning up after themselves. The possibility of the closing of some of these sites is quite real. As usual it's the action of a few that is spoiling it for everyone else. I guess the authorities can't be everywhere but they should fine those they catch to the fullest extent.

Yeah Jimricho & briche, you guys are dead right. Its always the idiots that spoil it for the rest. As a group of people there must be something we can do to combat this, ESPECIALLY because its most likely NOT GREY NOMADS that behave in such a fashion but other groups. Makes me cranky.

Dead right jack biggles .
It is very rarely the GN type people leaving the rubbish . Usually local hoons . When you see Big Mac wrappers , Kenchukky Fried containers etc. around it would usually be the locals .
GNs can't afford those things all the time . We always take our rubbish away , and often fill the bag with other stuff laying around . The further away from towns you get , the less rubbish there is in free camp areas , which adds to the strength of that argument .
Of course the CP lobby milk the rubbish thing for everything they can get out of it too .

I also think the rubbish issue is from locals, problem is if this does go ahead it may eventually get here (Aust) and there will not be enough CP's to handle the amount of vans on the road, so where do we go then?
If it does come here we all need to contact Dawn Frazer and ask her to represent us in parliment.
