When you start putting fridge things in the cupboard (Like I have done) then you can start to worry, lol !.....Seriously we all have memory lapse, particularly if our minds are on other things. Like when you go to do something and can't remember what you were going to do etc. All part of life, however if it becomes a real problem talk to you GP about it, he will know what to do or who to refer you to etc.
Bottom line is we all do it !!!

Memory lapse is quite norman as we age, we are genetically programmed for it,
helps us forget we were once young!

Some medications, especially if they are heavy duty ones and newly prescribed can have this effect BB.

If I remember rightly, you had a heart attack earlier this year BB? We were told after Mr D's heart attack that the heart attack, or the treatment for it (did you have a bypass?) or the pills they give you, can TEMPORARILY affect the brain/memory. Talk to your doctor and dont let it worry you, we all have our moments.

My problem is not only trying to remember where it put things but also trying to remember what it is I'm looking for. It's good exercise however, all that walking from room to room wondering why the hell I went there in the first place. We seniors need the exercise!

Living in a caravan full time cuts all that room shuffling trying to work out what you're looking for and why. I just look around from where I am and it usually comes back to me. I haven't had a vague-out since Richmond Qld in November. No one can explain them medically, and the neuro test didn't produce a solution. The Dr at Richmond hospital put me on low-dose Aspirin and it's been ok since. I do get frustrated when I'm typing and my fingers don't go where my brain wants them to. I've been typing for more than 45 years. Keep up the crossword puzzles and board games. Even solitaires on the computer help to keep the brain active, talking about it proves it to everyone else that your brain is still active.

I read somewhere that there is three main problems with getting old.
1. Repeating yourself.
2. forgetting things.
3. ahh.. umm.. oh, yeah repeating yourself.

BB, don't worry!! I have a friend who laughingly tells me that at times she thinks that she might be "losing it"....but she knows that she isn't because....
If she was losing it, she wouldn't realise that she sometimes does something odd...and because she is aware of it....that means she hasn't lost the plot!!
Cheers

Hi Travelbug, joined nearly 12 months ago and been lurking and learning since then, Should be on the road by the end of July for an extended tour. Read 300kms by 3 days per week maximum Have been getting the camper ready and fitting all the extras to the ex-Telstra box body Navara. Went for a trial run down to the Southwest( Sue's Bridge, Blackwood River) a couple of weeks ago . Pass! Was rather magical, tall timber, cool mornings, campfire smoke curling lazily up thru the trees. Having my morning cuppa and cheeky fantail sitting on my boot. Talk about losing it...being a non-smoker arrived at campsite , no matches. A little improvisation and some old army survival skills got it sorted

l so had to laugh at this thread of this post. When we were young if you forgot something it became no big deal. Now that we are older it is always at the back of our minds ...alzheimers ??
l comfort my forgetfullness with a fact l read. Our brain..unless trained otherwise...only holds 8 to 10 things at a time. What we need we hold the rest is shuffled out So most times when we forget it is because we have other things stewing about in our old heads. So what is forgotten is the actions that usually require no active thought.
One of the things that is on the diagnosis for "old timers desease" is not that you forget your car keys ..but that you forget what they are for and what to do with them.
Thank you for making me laugh..it's so nice to know we all have lots of senior moments. Hope you all have a delightful day Happy travelling
