Nice shot, smoke does that effect, I think it looks great, and Barn Hill is a nice spot

This fire was in 2007. We were camped in the unpowered area along the cliff top, for those who know Barn Hill. Over a couple of days, fire came quite close to campground - embers dropping and the like. Pretty speccy at night. No one could leave because roads all closed - fire near Broome too. We were moved into the powered area because it was easier to defend, with green grass and water taps. Fire guys coming in and out in choppers. It was gotten under control and wind changed and all was well. It is as close as I want to go, though.

This photo is one of the only bonuses of bushfires in that region. Just south of there at Anna Plains, the fires came quite close to the homestead in 1997, and the crew was always at the ready when the fires were around. The grader driver was also ready to go to cut fire breaks. When you fly over that region you can see the bushfire scars across the landscape from the previous years with the stages of regrowth quite apparent from the air. That's life in the bush.
Sunset was coloured by smoke from a large bushfire in the area.
