just a note for anyone passing by,, the june long weekend will be here soon and a few of us are heading to lake gilles, a normally dry salt lake between port augusta and kimba on the west coast of SA to do a bit of land sailing, it seems that the "crew" is growing in number now and there maybe a few yachts there, so if anyone is passing by stop and have a look could be abit of fun,, some sort ofmarker will be erected to show where we are...oh don't take you caravan down the track to the lake you may not get back out, the scrub can be very thick in spots

Is the lake still dry? Quite a few of those remote salt lakes normally dry now have water on them I noticed when I was last out that way.

yeh gilles is mostly dry all the time in the part that we go,, it takes a lot of rain it completely cover it with water, and i don't think they've had that much so far anyway,, but we'll go and have a look if it's to wet to sail we'll just play in the mud
