Brrrrrr... It's freezing here in Brisbane ....around 6 degrees below average at 12degrees. It was 10 degrees in my kitchen this morning and would you believe, my next door neighbour took his van to Stanthorpe this morning .. 4 degrees there at mid day!
Took SWMBO to her hairdresser at NewFarm & planned to stop by at the nearby caravan show on the way home ... BUT at 11.30 am all the carparks were full & traffic jams in access streets!!!
So no caravan show for us this year .... instead, I fitted several of my newly aquired Lumino LED lights in the van - strips of 12 are waterproof & fantastic.
On a roll, so I had a go at fixing up the wonky spare tyre bracket on the rear of the van.
I had reversed over a low post in a Stradbroke Is. CP last year & bent the bracket getting clear. Pulled the post out of the ground too ... but that was easily fixed.
SWMBO's fault of course. She is in charge of the back of the van when getting on site. Claims mitigating circumstances as she helped me avoid a nearby tree.
Half a dozen sharp hits with a club hammer & it was straight again .
So the day wasn't lost after all ... and it's almost time for a mulled wine .. where's the hot poker?
(Next time I'll take the train to the Caravan Show)

Isn't Stanthorpe the place where the monkeys sing soprano in July? (The song says so). Brrrr ...... Only insanity would drive someone to drive to Stanthorpe when the temperature is almost freezing. Maybe they're having a family reunion with those singing monkeys.

Management and I went to the Bris Caravan show today, wandered around looking at all the things we cant afford lol. Just so easy to drop a casual $100,000 on a nice rig ... Soon as we got home I lit the fire. Tommorrow morning 0530 mate and I are going out fishing, its my boat so he gets his feet wet, I get a "gentlemans" launch lol

I've been freezing all day too. Even at Springfield Lakes where it's usually warm during the day.
Finally home after 2 weeks of minding my grandson at Greenbank. Went to get the heater out for the first time this season...OH NO! It doesn't work! I have loved that heater since scoring it from Dad's house when he went into care.
It's an oil heater. Are they worth getting someone to look at, or is it another case of throw it away?

I went to the Rosehill (Sydney) show this year but gave the one at Maitland (NSW) a miss this time although it's closer to home

Hi .. Unless you have a friend qualified to look at it as a favour (such things as the cord & 'knocked over' cut out switch) .. then it is probably not worth the trouble.

Thanks Cupie. That's what I thought.

Jim that Maitland one was ordinary last year, we didn't bother this year and at $15 a head to get in, we won't be going again either.
Rather make the effort and drive to Penrith.

The venue at Maitland (Showground) doesn't help either, it's somewhat run-down and cramped. Penrith is run by the same company that does the Rosehill show.

Its like buying a lotto ticket-You buy it because you like to think what you would do with the money. I like to go to these shows as I can fantasise on what I can,t afford.Sometimes there are good bargains, but , normally, I can,t afford these up market vans and goods.Nice to look , though. They combine the fishing and caravan show in Townsville and Cairns, which means I can claim the trip to the mainland on my tax.Hope you catch some fish, Pete.

Yes, it's always like that. And parking is always an issue. Last year I went to the one at Southport and found it much easier to park and get around.

Rosehill (Sydney) parking was free (in centre of racecourse and other carparks), entrance to show $14 seniors/pensioners. Mini bus drop off and pickup from parking areas.

We went today. Very cold initially with drizzle. Left home at 8am to arrive at the showgrounds at 8.40am. A lot quicker than we figured Ended up with a park right up near the front then had to stand around for 1 1/2 hours
Turned out to be a nice dry day. Lots ot see and I agree with glassies - some big vans and 5th wheelers - not to mention the motorhomes
Left at about 2.30pm.
