as della has already told you all we bought a 1991 winibbego freway on a ford trader
my idea now is to build a chassis under it and turn it into a fifth wheeler using probably a nissan narvara as the tug .that way we dont pay dead rego for something that dosnt get used alot .and we can clam the ute on the business .any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated ..
after looking under the van the under floor structure looks strong enough my bigest problem is the truck chassis width is closer than a c/van and would have to construct extra framing to carrie the spring hangers . we went to the vanshow today and suses out turntables now im in the mood
o and i can handle criticism as we own subarus lmdo

And then sell the truck to pay for the new under carrage, I like your thoughts. only advice I could give is have your new chassis engineered with plans so it will pass rego inspection straight up cheers blaze

Just check with rta in regards to you project it would be a big disapontment to do all the work and find you can not rego it, Ask for it in writing so you have come back. Sometimes it is better to buy a old van and do it up as roof sheeting and floor covering are cheap then an mod & cons etc etc. Bunnings is a good place to buy most things. We hope this helps.

With your suggestion on the turntable, with the fifth wheelers, the difference between an articulated unit (Semi) and a trailer is how the trailer is connected, ie turntable or ball, that means with a turntable you must have a semi license, that's my understanding anyone with fifth wheelers / Goosenecks please correct me if I'm wrong..

yea iv been to my engineer he said it can be done but his price was up there .thats why i went to the c/van show mainly to look at hitches and the way they were set up and got realy good prices i think i mite go with reece they got the name and was only 2800 fitted and wired up fare in my books and i think the pin was 900 so i cut $2000 of builders price . and he will give me the design to go with and weld it up my self (yes im confident) we do spend a bit with the trucks at his workplace im just about to spend about $10 ,000 on new suck truck set up . but im still listening
