Even down here in SA we've seen news warning people in those regions of flash flooding to take precautions or evacuate. Those low pressure systems can wreak havoc on the unwary. Similar to tropical cyclones without the long warning period.

Apparently its not Dougs Chinchilla, there is another somewhere Chris.
But Kempsey is going under as we speak, evacuating now, into the main street by 4am.

Talking to son before. Weather beautiful in Biggenden, warm, no rain. They've just got back from Rainbow beach, Inskip Point, weather great over there too. He didn't know anything about all the bad weather as hasn't been watching the news over the weekend. I wonder where the other Chinchilla is.

At 1.30am we were called to send a task force to Kempsey which is predicted to burst its banks soon. The water has already filled the Coles carpark there.
Our truck went up there and won't get back till the water recedes now, the guys are stuck. Only way out is SES flood boats.

Our boys are at Port tonight mate, will keep you posted as I hear.
We are currently travelling up to Hawk's Nest north of Newcastle. My brother who lives there said today has been terrible with wind and rain but says we will get thru. News said only trucks and 4x4 can get through. Aren't we glad we bought our land cruiser 2 weeks ago.

That place is most likely Kinchela. Would sound very similar to Chincilla on the radio or TV. It's downstream from Kempsey towards South West Rocks.
