Could all those who posted earlier and are still wishing to make a donation (you've got no say in it Marg, we insist) post again here, no need to mention the amount, but if Marg can pm us with a suitable Bank/Brancy/A/C number we can make the donation direct to it.
I'm in by the way !

wonder if Ken would help, but before this option is started can I suggest we wait until Marj has had time to contact the ACCC, I have a feeling in my water that they will be able to help

Please don't do this. I will ring ACCC and have a good talk to them tomorrow, and maybe see if something can be worked out with the caryard to get a refund and start all over again. Now you've upset me again. I thought I had stopped crying for the day.

Guys, I have some news. You have all been wonderful. My sister just rang, about an hour ago, just got off the phone. When I told her in tears what had happened. SHE SAID," HOW MUCH DO YOU NEED? LET ME KNOW, I WILL WRITE OUT A CHEQUE AND PUT IT IN THE POST FOR YOU"
Happywanderer said

Had to post that above quickly so you all would feel better. We had a long talk and I told her all your advice, about ACCC etc. So I will try ACCC first and wait for an outcome there before looking into a new motor. I need to write down all the details including names and numbers of caryard, previous owner, who did the work and who checked it today, then ring ACCC and give them all the details and ask for their advice. I'm presuming they will ring around and confirm what I've said the negotiate with the caryard to try and get some for of suitable outcome, Is that right? Sister lives in Geelong, so if it comes to getting a new motor will take Myrtle down there as more likely to get the help I need there than up this way.
You guys are all so wonderful. When I get back on the road I want to meet every single one of you.

I'm not fibbing guys. I wouldn't lie. I would just refuse your offer which has been given so generously. I will feel more comfortable with my sister helping out and she offered. She hadn't heard from me for a while so thought she better ring to see if I was ok. When I told her she offered straight away. No hesitation. She said she knows this was my dream and she had a cry with me. We've all had a rough few years.

Cripes......I'm a bloke and I feel like crying too, that is really good news Marj, we know your not looking for charity, but its not that at all, it is friends wanting to help out a friend in need, there would be no strings attached, so if things change let us know if we can help.
We all need a helping hand now and then and this time it is your turn if needed.
Good advice too Wombat, lets hope the ACCC can do something.

Hi Marj,
I know it's all very distressing.A friend who lived here had the same problem -was stranded in Forbes ,a family rescue fitted a new long motor and she had heaps of happy touring.
Those vehicles are very reliable with a reco motor and you should have no further worries but do fit an in house battery for the lights fridge etc.
Best wishes don't give up you will love it after a few trips
Cheers,
mary

I've been away from the forum for about 10 days or so & was wondering what happened to mytle. I've now read this thread and the other one, which answers most of my questions.
I've read what you've written here HW & despite that I would also be happy to follow Bill's suggestion & spear some coin your way. I understand how you feel on the issue HW, but please also understand where we are coming from, without you & myrtle burning up and down the highways & low-ways, how are we ever going to catch up with you for a camp fire and a few stories somewhere. Theres not much decency out there these days but theres loads of it ooooozing out of this forum & its always a wonderful feeling to help someone who deserves it.
Anyway, no matter what way you do it, a recon motor & a bit of TLC & both you and mytle will be moving about in due course.
Kudos to all in this forum that have offered their hand & good wishes !

Marj, the ACCC may in the first instance request you to contact the car yard, remember this it is important, contact them in writting requesting a new motor paid for by them using your choice of mechanic and workshop and register your letter the ACCC will advise you how to word the letter if you ask them, if the car yard will not come to the party then the ACCC will take over.
Please remember do NOT have any future verbal conversation with the car yard, no face to face and no phone calls, if they phone you just politly say all future contact will have to be in writing.
If the ACCC is unable to help I am in for plan B, but I will be very surprized if they do not help, that is what they are paid for, and being paid out of our taxes.
I'm coming out >>>(closet lurker) It's not often that I raise my head to post these days, but this one is so worth the written word that I could not resist adding myself to the "I'm ins" list to help you Happy Wanderer get happy wandering ~ it would be MY pleasure.
I am not on the road (yet) and you lot are my living room legends ~ especially you Happy Wanderer and any other solo female who fought all their demons and DID IT!
I wish I had a sister like that but as my great aunt used to say "wish in one hand and spit in the other and see which one gets full first".....
