We are considering a new Jayco Sterling caravan as our new van. I am a concerned that the curved shower door in the ensuite looks a little flimsy and could cause problems such as door coming off track or jamming. I would welcome comments and feedback from those more experienced than myself
Thanks Ed

Hi Mr Ed, (I thought he was a horse incidentally), although I have a Starcraft, I believe the shower door is the same. We have had our van for 12 mths now & have lived in it for the whole time, using the shower door more than often & have had no problem. If this is your major concern you are home & hosed. Good luck.

We looked at new Jayco Sterling Outback (pop top) about 18 months ago, we asked about the difference between the Discovery Outback and the Stirling Outback and was told the Discovery is the base model and the Stirling had all the options, I asked for a list of what the different options were, I then chased up the price of the discovery with all that was on the list and it came out to about $3000.00 cheaper than the Stirling....
Just something for you to ponder...

I wish I was as clever as the filmstar horse. The photo on my profile is my grand-dog Reg.

Can't help you with your shower door question, but I love you English Bull Terrier.
My brother had a pure one like yours and I had one with 1/4 greyhound. Not as thick and a bit leggier, bred for pig hunting .. and he was an excellent pig dog .. That was about 40 years ago!!!!

Jayco,
People either love them or hate them.
After purchasing a new one as our first van eight years ago, I am a firm hater.
If anything could go wrong, it did.
If the only worry was a shower dorr falling off, I would have cheered.
Good luck, but if I may offer one more piece of adice, LOOK at more vans.
Cheers
Dusty

I've had both Jayco and Coromal pop tops (and an A'Van camper trailer) and both had their good points. Jayco warranty cover cannot be faulted in my opinion and is far superior to many.
Jayco have well over 50% of the caravan market so must be doing something right, like anything you are going to get a few lemons now and then, especially when vans are mass produced in such volume like Jayco and Coromal are. A major caravan repairer has said don't believe either that you get what you pay for (with a few exceptions), some more expensive ones have major problems or shoddy hidden workmanship that would not be expected for what you pay.
Good luck with whatever you get. Would I buy another Jayco? Yes.

Have had Jayco Sterling for nearly 5 years used for about 8 months a year and have had no troubles with shower door, last van was a Jayco Heritage, this van a Jayco Sterling and next van will be a Jayco also so they must be something right.

Thank you for your replies. I seems that no matter what you get or how much you pay problems sometimes arise. It appears that Jayco are quite good in relation to fault rectifiction
Cheers Mr Ed

Hi, Well we are on our 2nd Sterling(4th Jayco) - last one 3yrs old with curved door - never any trouble with it - I did think the same about it being flimsy when I first seen it - its easy to clean too! Any warranty claims fixed no fuss and only very minor - and normally I would not comment on other posts re how bad Jayco's are but tonight we have been sitting with a group of about 20 vans of all different types and I have just listened to 2 different people mention their issues with major leaks and the trouble getting them fixed - NO they weren't Jayco's they were far more expensive vans, legal action threatened before things got fixed - so like others have said before me Good luck with what ever you purchase, its not always about paying the $.
