It was nearly three years ago that we planned to do the big lap but family births, marriages and unfortunately death kept us from going too far from home. Now, we a finally going to achieve our dream. Leaving Bargara we plan to be in Theodore, Qld tomorrow night then onto Rubyvale, and after that who knows! Want to see the Kimberleys and Broome before the wet season starts and then move south to enjoy the wildflowers and wineries around Perth. If any fellow grey nomads are travelling the same route, would love to catch up for a happy hour or two!

Thanks everybody. Sounds like there are a few of us that will be in WA so hopefully our paths will cross at some time. We are planning to get to Katherine fairly quickly as we have already travelled throughout Nth. Queensland and the NT up to Darwiin, Kakadu, Litchfield etc. so don't need to visit those places again on this trip. We think that by not dawdling on the first leg we should not be too late to see all that WA has to offer. And as a reply to Bronnie, yes my dad was planning to tag along in a campervan but he is still not sure if he can handle the long distances so he hopes to get one soon and have a few short trips around home until he gets familiar with it. If not, we have suggested he fly to Perth when we get there and he can then travel with us for the rest of the way home. Maybe even buy a campervan while in Perth if he is still determined to do so. Otherwise, he can stay in cabins which is what he did when we took him on a six week tour around Western Queensland this time last year. In the meantime, while we are travelling, he will be kept occupied by other family eg. two sisters and a brother that live close by.

Hi Stevo, Enjoy the trip & you will have to be quick to catch the wild flowers in wa.
We were there in 08 at this time of year & the flowers around the Mullewa area were at their best, followed by Cape LeGrande in Late Oct , just amazing.
