Yes I would pack the thermals beachballs. Its cold down there right through the year except for a couple of months around Xmas. You will love it, beautiful place.

Yes! And your weatherproof gear too. Don't bring umbrellas, they'll be wrecked in 30 seconds.

october starts to warm but unsettled with often windy condition, december through to mid march is generally the warmest, topping out at 36 degrees in 2009 (hotess day on record for Smithton). When they put the weather forcast on tv they always show Hobart and it is often well below the state average as its at the base of Mt Wellington
cheers

Ah Beachball, Pete & I are on our way home from Tassie - left there last Friday, and had a ball!!! Were there for 5 weeks, and yes it was cold, wet, a bit blowy, and some snow, but oh how we enjoyed ourselves. Providing you dress appropriately and know that you are going to be there in the cold/winter weather, then you will be OK. All we can say is -ENJOY!!!!!!

It's been gusty and wet today. Inside-out brollies and messed up hairdos galore. That said, last week was glorious.

just when you would think you had most of your holiday sorted along comes a big bird to dump on your plans,,,, most of the trips we do are just the bride and i as the 10 year old step daughter stays with her father while we have our time togeather,,, however this tie round because he wants to be an ass at the last minute we now have to rebook ferry tickets and try to up grade the ferry cabin for the trip over and back and take the kid out of school for 3 weeks or cancell the whole thing and re plan it for school holiday time and possibly loose a coupe of thousand dollars with cancelations and such all becasue someone wants to be an asrehole....................at this stage we are still going and the step daughter will have to take some school work with her for the 3 weeks.........it will be an experience as we will be tenting it some of the time while we are there.....
