Hi all,
The Perth Wildflower event starts in September and there will be heaps of wildflowers on display and trees in bloom etc and of course birds attracted to the blooms. It goes for a month.
Kings Park is a mixture of manicured native gardens and bushland and has spectacular views over Perth City and the Swan River.
If you don't have the time for the country wildflower season, or just want to add your experience to it this is the place to be, see this link;

Hi Vic, we were at the festival in 2007 on our trip back to the Gold Coast after leaving Darwin. What a great place Kings Park is right in the heart of the CBD Pauline

I'm glad you took the opportunity while you were here Pauline, if I had to tell people to visit only one place in Perth (anytime of the year) it would be Kings Park.
Calendar permitting I will try to get there this year for the flower display and birdlife!

I parked up in Perth in 2007 and went out with my girlfriend one evening. We decided to visit Kings Park after dinner and we stumbled upon a concert by El Divo, the 4 tenors. We didn't have to be inside the boundary or pay for a ticket to enjoy the talent of those guys. We found a hole in the mesh, but we just sat on the grass and listened. What a beautiful evening. Kings Park is one of my favourite places in my favourite city, in my favourite state.

We always made a point of taking any visitors into Perth to Kings Park particularly during "wildflower season".It is well worth a visit and the view over the city is spectacular.
PS In the bookshop there there is a series of little books (for the various areas of WA..Metro,Pilbara etc) with all ( well most of) the wildflowers in a colour coded order. Great books for when you are out and about looking at wildflowers.(Look up the red pages to find out what the name of that red flower is) Mine are well read and looking a bit shoddy but I can't find them to give you the details about them.

As I travelled south from Broome, down the coast, I followed the colourful carpet from Onslow to Esperance. The variety, the colour, the species, the birds feeding, and then I did a cruise on Walpole Inlet. That bloke has matered entertaining tourism. Smoko is included in the price, but it's so much fun and very informative. Then you do the tree top walk. Yep! they do it well.

That's great Pam, sorry I missed your post earlier.
Be great see those pic's Blaze, is there much disruption with the works for CHOGM going on?
Might try to visit for a look at the display in the next few days hopefully!
Update.....Went to the park today, wonderful weather and plenty of flowers and bushes out in bloom, fantastic walks short and long and of course views over the City, Swan River and South Perth.
