We have finally made it to Dougie's Place in Chinchilla QLD.
It is everything I remembered and more. The tranquility is just magic and the wild life even more abundant.
The Tourist Information Office in Chinchilla graciously allowed us to fill our water tanks from their town water supply and said we can come back as often as we like to fill up again. This is very indicative of most of the people you meet in the town. Can't do enough to help out their visitors.
We have the campfire up and going and it will keep on going till the morning we leave. There is so much firewood here that we could stay for years and not use it all.
Blue has the yabbie pots in the billabongs, after a quick trip to town this morning to get some lamb's liver. He can have the offcuts for his traps and Doug and I will have lamb's fry with bacon and onion gravy for dinner tonight. All cooked on the campfire of course.
If you are looking for a free camp that has it all then you can't go past Doug's. His hospitality is way up there and there are so many campsites to choose from it's not an easy decision.
Because the property has been listed at a Wildlife Refuge and Reserve you won't be able to come if you have a dog or cat travelling with you unfortunately.
Just to be away from all the stress and anxiety of every day living is so beneficial. It's like being in another world. Thanks Doug.

Sounds wonderful Ma.....
Hope that you and Blue have a terrific few weeks of chillout time.
It was great to meet you both yesterday...and, of course, everyone else too. Thanks for arranging it. Hope to do it again before too long.
Cheers.

I'm another one who is sooooo disappointed. I've been really looking forward to visiting Dougies' place. Not going to leave my Chihuahua behind to do it though.
What a let-down.
Cheers,
Sheba.

I guess there are choices we all have to make......to travel with pets or not.........to have a santuary for wildlife or not.............to travel solo or not.............to have a camper trailer or fifth wheeler or not.
That's what life is all about..........choices. We must each choose what is applicable to ourselves and adapt from that I guess.
My choice was to travel with company (Blue) not to travel with pets (if you don't count Blue....lol) and to have a caravan instead of a camper trailer or fifth wheeler.
Life would be pretty boring if we all chose the same thing I reckon.
Just another one of MY choices is to steer clear of towns and cities and opt for the outback and solitude.

Ahhh! My thoughts exactly Elaine. I realized after my last trip that I don't like the big smoke and in particular, the traffic of the major highways. Give me country towns, the bush and secondary roads any day!

Your photo's give me itchy feet for the west Elaine.
My Mum came from Mungallala so whenever we head west, it feels like we're going home, even though none of us have actually lived out there.
I hope Blue didn't fall in!

Not sure at this stage Tige whether we will be home before or after the long weekend. The roads down south are best kept away from on long weekends that's for sure.
