We have purchased another van and we are planning a trip to Camerons Corner, calling at Moree and Lightning Ridge on the way, is it ok to take a 23.6' van out there am told the road has much corragations, any help from all the well travelled Grey Nomads would be appreciated, Bob.

A few years ago, I towed a caravan to camerons .. had quite a repair bill later ..
If you really take your time .. and not on a schedule .. and its not raining .. I say, why not ?

Hi Caraview, one option is to tow the van to Tibooburra, leave it there and then drive into Cameron corner.
We went there about 3 years ago and were told by C/park in Broken Hill roead was no good for Caravans so we left ours in Broken Hill. But the road to Tibooburra was very good. You can always ring Tibooburra hotel and ask about road conditions.

Friend was there last year - definitely 4WD only - so leaving the van at Tibooburra would be your best bet.

Was there July last year, We came up the Strzelecki Track then across to Cameron Cnr and to Tibooburra.
Between Cameron Cnr & Tibooburra the track/road was terrible. I would not take a van along it, unless it was an offroad one.

We did DandS's route 5 years ago, the road was very corrugated at the time, definitely not good for any but the toughest caravan.

Hi Bob
I was at Cameron Corner, via the Strzelecki and the Merty Merty Road and then on to Tibooburra in late June this year.
That particular road is not suitable for a large or heavy caravan with some 100+ large sand dunes to traverse from the Strzelecki across to the Corner.
Coming in from Tibooburra the road through the NP to CC is quite bad, very rutted and many corrugations.
Not sure what the brand of caravan is that you have but unless it was a serious off roader which, I doubt due to the size you mention @ 23ft 6in I would not even consider it.
The suggestion has been made to go to Tibooburra and leave the van there and drive out to CC which is a much better idea IMO.
There are cabins available at CC now so you could make a nice little side trip of it.
