I went to the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers yesterday, and took a look at Spring Bluff on the way home. I think these photo's tell the story. QR did a fantastic job, working 24/7 to get it open again. It was a massive job. So much rock a soil had to be brought in. Murphy's Creek is below here.

WOW, still cannot believe what happened there, hopefully never again in my lifetime.

An amazing recovery. Hopefully the new structure will be a little more stable in future floods, God forbid it ever happens again. Maybe Qld learned a lot about infrastructure development in that dreadful experience. The Government seems to have its priorities a little disorganised. All the road networks south of the Sunshine Coast, while the outlying regions can whistle to have a pot hole filled. I've travelled many of the state's outback roads and they're dangerous. There is a lot of roadwork being undertaken so maybe they'll make improvements rather than just resurfacing a poor foundation. The flower show has a great reputation, but I haven't been fortunate enough to enjoy. Maybe one day. Thanks for the pictures. Very graphic.

All so true CG. Yes, there is a lot of money being put into the Brisbane/Ipswich roads, but they badly needed doing too. There is an enormous amount of traffic around here these days, particularly work comuters.
CG, I remember you warning me of the state of the outback roads before I went on my recent trip, and I certainly did need my wits about me.
This was the first time I went to the carnival on the parade day...it was sooo busy with people! I usually stay with friends at Highfields during the week, and they show me around the prize homes etc. But this year my brother & s-i-l wanted to go, so it had to be the weekend, and all in one day too! I was exhausted! Toowoomba is 2 hours drive from me, so it makes a looong day!
But all in all, I would highly recommend going!

I think that same thought so many times as I drive around places that suffered such flood devastation and are now so pretty. So much effort has been made by so many to try to get things back to normal. I echo the thoughts of others here.....I hope it never happens again in my lifetime!
I usually go to the Carnival of Flowers, but unfortunately, I can't make it this year. From all reports, it is better than ever. Oh well.....next year....
