Would it not be a better idea for the offending poster's comment's to be deleted rather than the whole topic?

Hi everyone, My wife Sheryl and I are buying a 3,500 acre property near Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia. The land is mainly natural bushland with 2 wiers that are ideal for canoeing etc. We want to establish a caravan park with a difference. The sites will be set out throughout the 3,500 acres not living side by side as in normal parks, and set up with full unsuite facilities. There are 4X4 tracks throughout the property that will allow you to spend many happy days just checking out the ruggared beauty of this awsome property. The fee's will be $50 per week or $10 per night per couple.
The sites are very private and have open fire places as well as full roof cover. This would be camping to the max. Two night a week there will be a pig or lamb on the spit at the main came kitchen sitting around the open fire under the stars and chat and relax.
The theme will be set in the sixties so you can relive the good old days. We even have a few old 3 speed on the column holdens and valiants etc to just cruise around the property like the old days. Horse riding, Quad Bikes and off road two seater buggies will also be available. The best thing is what you would spend in a normal Caravan Park in 2 nights you get nearly a week at ours.
We would like feedback from Grey Nomads to assist in setting this place up as the best enjoyable place to stay designed by you the traveller. Hope to hear from you all with ideas and what you would like to have on this magnificent property.
Kind regards
Gary & Sheryl

Sounds like G&S have a winner on their hands.
However, the owner of a caravan park chain who sometimes contributes on this forum has mentioned previously, maybe not on this forum, that one of the largest expenses of a caravan park is insurance. I wonder if G&S have taken this into consideration.
I'd go there. I'd like to go when wombat, Boroma, vic, gubby, ma, madge, CG, FF, Sheba, Beth, Gerty, milo are all there. Too many more to list. All my old mates. Didn't mean old, I meant, well, old. You know what I meant. Wouldn't that be a hoot. Wont happen I know, but I'd like to come across you somewhere, sometime.
Oh well, sitting in the office daydreaming. Back to work. Seeya.

Hi Everyone, I just wanted you all to know that we closed the first thread on this as we felt that some of the posts became negative and a bad feeling was developing.I believe the original topic was an appeal for suggestions and feedback for a project that was still in the planning stage.I’ve written to Gary and Sheryl to explain why we closed the thread and to invite them to let us know exactly where they are located and when they will be open for business when they’re ready. Also, just a reminder to try to keep threads roughly on topic so both members and guests can find relevant information when they visit. It's fun to meander a bit but sometimes the original idea is lost.Hope you all understand.

I agree Boroma577.
Cindy, when you say 'the first thread' does that indicate there is a second thread?
if yes please advise where?
Just had a re-read of the thread and I can only see where people are expresing an opinion in regards to dogs and kids, and in the process are giving advice to G&S, so I therefore cannot see why this thread was deleted, however that is only my opinion.

Hi all, Just to clarify our position – we closed the thread because we felt people were getting upset by some of the posts and we didn’t want things to deteriorate further. We chose to close the thread because if we deleted some of the posts, the others may not make sense and we didn’t want to delete the entire topic.
Despite this, I think that Gary and Sheryl had lots of positive feedback and encouragement for their project.I hope that they will keep us informed of their progress and let us know when they are up and running.

By closeing the whole thread Cindy, you have stopped all of the feedback, not very fair in my opinion to the rest of us posters when only a couple of members were involved, I would have thought it would have been better to remove the individual posts that were offending regardless of the flow of the topic.
BUT as I said this is only my opinion, others may disagree but that would then be their opinion.

There is a place just past Wilpena pound that has great bus camping etc.
Check willow springs station or skytrek for some details.
There is /was a caravan style area with kitchen etc and areas out in the bush where you are secluded form everyone if that is your wish.
Anywhere we can go to relax without the CP style and at a reasonable price I am interested in.
