We are currently planning our first trip.. leaving Perth July 2012 heading
up the WA coast to Darwin then East to Queensland and beyond.
My wife and I are a Duo who have worked In Aust, but Mainly in Asia
we play music from the 50s to the 80s in all styles.
I was wondering if anyone here knows of caravan parks that hire entertainers
so that we could possibly contact them and maybe suppliment our income on the trip.
any info would be appreciated
Kindest Regards

Some Tourist Parks (eg; Top Tourist Parks) don't hire, but make their park available for entertainers to set up in an area and the entertainers put up signs in ablution blocks etc about their show and ask for gold coin donations for their performance.

seen a few where the gold coin gets tossed in the hat and then they also sell their cds, seem to be around $15 to $20 ea from my limited experience. But always nice to go and listen to a life gigs long as they are not that loud that they think there listeners are 2 blocks away Hope to share a camp with you one night on our travels and you would have to be really bad not to get a couple of goldies from me cheers blaze

An email to Big 4, Top Tourist Parks, Discovery Holiday Parks etc, might be worth a try ?
I work in parks and I know some of them definitely hire entertainment in the school hols for the kiddiwinks, and in th ewintertime up north for the olderwinks like us.

If parks utilise entertainers as they travel around they usually only do it during their peak season - April to September in the tropics/north, and during summer the rest of the year. I've come across a few along the way. You'd be best to do your own homework and make your own enquiries to promote your talents and services. You may not get paid by the park, but you may receive contributions from the occupants of the park similar to buskers. Go ahead. Take your chances but don't forget to enjoy the trip between parks.

I hope you dont sing Yellow Bird or Mocking Bird Hill too often?... heard those so many times in caravan parks! I was starting to wonder about those old songs from the 40's and 50's. How old are the average grey or not so grey caravan park tourist? Would others like to hear something from the 60's or even more recent?
