Hello Everyone. I grew up in Australia - mostly Melbourne, but now live a nomadic life in England. I have both a Bailey Moselle caravan as well as a converted Ford Transit campervan which I use to tow the caravan. But mostly the caravan is my base and when I feel like travelling I take the campervan to wherever I fancy. It's a great life. I work just like everyone else - as a computer contractor, but I cannot live in a bricked house.

Hello '100 waves', you maybe just the person to speak too, I am traveling to London and Scandinavia next June on an organised tour for 2 weeks, on return to London I wanted to spend 5 to 7 days travelling around but none of the tour coach companies tours fit into my scedule...I was thinking of hiring a van (there are 4 adults) and doing my own thing but had no idea what to look for or where to go. In the end, the only organised trip I found that was suitable is a 4 day excursion to Paris, this sounds and will be great by my initial intention was to just see some sites in England.
Any thoughts thanks?

Hi 100 waves, welcome would love to go to cornwell my grand parents came out for the gold in Charters Towers. We head of on tuesday for Perth will be doing about 3000ks, stopping off in other places on the way. Cheers Colsa.

Hi Benwerrin, in the year 2000, Mr D and I went to the UK, and hired a 6 berth motor home (winnie style) and travelled for three weeks from London, up the east coast, through Scotland, across the top, and back down the west coast and then cross the country to London. We organised it through a travel agent in Victoria. PM me if you want their name. We also hired a Canal Boat through them for a week in North Wales.
It was a great way to see the country

we are doing the Mon & Brec canal next year, would not go to the UK without another narrowboat trip, have done most canal's over there now, I wanted to do the Lea river/canal but they are closing it down for 6 month because of security involving the Games, the canal runs too close to some of the venue's, buisness are being compensated for lack of trade.
Not a nice canal but it goes south and into the Thames, and that's what I want to do.

We did the Llangollen Canal, which incorporates the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. An amazing trip.

I am using a Melbourne travel agency.
Th trouble is, I only have a maximum of 8 days left for this excursion, so I am limited to the trips that are open to me.
not sure what tours he can arrange but it's all in chauffeur driven cars.

It can get very cold here indeed. I have a trumatic heater that warms the caravan to a nice 22-25 C. It is very comfortable and cosy.

Sounds like you need to hire a motorhome. To be honest I would buy an old campervan and sell it before returning home. But here is a link for motorhome hire
