Its a growing concern to stay in the race for patronage, I think .. There's such a market out there now and if you're not big enough to stay there, you'll get eaten up by the ones that are big ..
I do also belong to CMCA, but primarily for the benefits of a suitable insurance coverage. A while back I did attend a Rally in Qld, but was less than impressed and haven't anticipated another ..
As far as Solo's Groups go, I have yet to find reason to join one .. I know some great folks that enjoy Solo membership in one or more Groups, but it's just not my cup of tea ..
Yeah .. I've got you guys 'n gals on here and I'm still only regulated by my freedom of choice ..
Suits me just fine ..

The Australasian Touring Caravan,motorhome and Camping Club Inc have been welcoming all RV as full members for years and you can carry tour house on your back.

I hadnt even heard of this club!
I think it would be good to have a single body to represent us, partcularly if we would like national registration/licences, and better safety control over the way RV's are built etc, etc. A really big all-encompassing group can be unwieldy, eg the NRMA has had its share of personality clashes and lawsuits on its board, but it successfully lobbies governments for better roads/ vehicle safety etc.
What do others think?

I too am a member of the atcmcc .. and have been a personal acquaintance of Brians for many years .. but again recently while travelling in WA, I inquired about attending a local group meeting .. however, when finding it would have cost me $32.00 p/n at a Caravan Park, I lost interest ..
Don't misunderstand me though .. I do acknowledge the atcmcc as being my choice of the groups available and keen to attend a rally when near to them, but I'm not a frequent user of CP's unless absoloutely necesssary ..then they would also have to be cost effective for me to benefit from their service ..
While at Elmore & GreensLake on the first week in November, I will also attend the group get-together outside Elmore for the HF Radio Group at Aysens Reserve which is also also usually run by Brian too .. Aysens Reserve though is a "free-camp" situation and I've always enjoyed that weekend ..
This time however, I plan to spend my time at Greens Lake with the GN's present there, but will attend the Saturday at Aysens reserve with the HF Radio Club to attend the Club Meeting ..
Life is good and we make our own decisions to suit ourselves .. aren't we lucky to have and share that freedom ..

I was a member of ATCMC http://atcmcc.org.au/ (link supplied by gst) and also found it was a great club, however we also belonged to a state based club and found it too expensive to belong to both and a lot of events etc clashed, so just stayed with the local club.
Like gst says, ATCMC accepts all types of membership and if you decided to sell an RV and buy something different you can still belong to the club.
If you join a specific RV type/make club (eg; Jayco, A'Van) you will find that if you buy another make of RV irrespective of length of membership you will have to leave the club. We belonged to an A'Van camper trailer club, but when we sold our A'Van and bought a Jayco knew we would have to move on, they are the rules of the club so no sour grapes from me, just pointing out you are better joining a generic club (all type of RV etc) if you intend staying a member for awhile.
We now have a campervan and although I joined the CMCA (which also has a solo section) have not been to a rally yet and don't know if we will, but the monthly good quality RV magazine and cheap insurance is a reason many join it. My BIL is also a member but has never been to a rally.

This is true about chopping and changing clubs thats why I got talked into one club for all plus I'm in the HF radio, vks 737& RSL and I'm not real club type person my wife went for years without most clubs only members of two VKS and RSL But now I'm grounded looking after grandkids for a while contact with greynomads,A.T.C.M.&C.C. and radio clubs Forums Help Keep in the loop.

MoTOURing was established by the CMCA for exactly this purpose. It is designed so that all the clubs can join together for lobbying purposes.
Personally, the more specialised a club is, the more likely people will have common interests. A minimum number of active participants is also required.

There are a lot of people who prefer to do their own thing gst, some clubs can be very regimented and can get very political club wise, not to mention power struggles etc.
Some are more laid back and allow members to do their own thing if they want to and they are the best to belong to if you want a club life.
Geez, they even have a Wombat Caravan Club for Wombats in SA, I suppose Wombat will be starting a branch over here soon......

Yes an inclusive peak body organisation that had representatives from all or most of the various state and national clubs would be incredibly powerful as a lobby group without impacting on the individual needs of each participating organisation. It costs to set up such a body (someone has to administer it and you need skilled full time staff who are experienced in dealing with national govt etc) but this could come out of a set percentage of membership fees so that the impact would be very small on indivual members.

I know where there's one. At the Cooper Creek Homestay. My friends have travelled all around and then some in their OKA, and with their 2 daughters lived and home-schooled for most of their primary school years. The OKA is an amazing vehicle.
I saw this on another forum, they have also formed an ACC Lone Trekkers group (solo's).
