Best bet is contact shipping lines. Best to containerise both your van and the vehicle. Then you will have to get customs clearance and quarantine clearance once they land there. The wharfies there, and officialdom dont work any quicker than they do here in Oz, so you would need to allow 3 weeks for them to cleared. Road distances are much shorter, but much more scenic, many, many more corners and some of the roads are much narrower than Oz. A large van would be difficult on some of the minor roads. But a fascinating country

I spoke to a Kiwi about this a little while back, he is a tourist bus driver in NZ and has his own caravan for touring down there.
He said he is doing a lap of Oz in the not too distant future but shipping his van over to Oz and back from NZ would be too expensive and he is going to hire an RV in Oz to do it.
I didn't go into the actual costs, but he seems to know what he is talking about.

I made enquiries years ago about taking my motorhome to N.Z. and discovered that something around 50% of the value of the unit had to be put up as a bond to be sure you brought it back. It has to be steam cleaned to be sure you don't take across seeds or bugs. The vehicle goes by ship and you go by air requiring you to find accommodation both ways waiting for the vehicle to arrive which could take up to a fortnight. Just too difficult. If anyone finds the situation has improved I would be interested as I too would love to travel over there with my vehicle. They have a system where you can camp cheaply on private property (farm-stay) and a reciprocal system with CMCA here.
