To improve visibility when reverse parking the Hiace Frontline would like to either get reversing mirror or two parking sensors
Would prefer mirror but as it needs to bolt onto the back door will create problem for snuggly fitting back annex that fits over the door.
Your thoughts would be appreciated

Hi ZJ ,personally I would be looking at an in dash GPS/reversing camera setup.
Dick Smith have them around the $690 fully fitted.Other places like Jaycar/Autobarn have variations too.
If that is out of you league then one of the rear view mirrors with a reversing camera setup are now very affordable. Should not be too much more than one of those parking mirrors bolted to the back door. Some are wireless and only need a small amount of work to fit the camera at the rear of the vehicle.
Hope you find something that suits.
Safe Travelling.

Hi Zedjay,
I have a High Ace with the reversing mirror and reversing sensors, to be honest I never look a the reversing mirror just the normal mirrors and side/rear windows. The reversing sensors are good but if you have a rear bumper bar they must be mounted so the bar doesn't obstruct the sensor range, I spoke to one bloke that had done with both the sensors and the bumper bar and it could be done.
Usually there are 4 sensors, but the number is up to you. I don't have a reversing camera. The reversing mirror on mine had it's own mounting holes but I can see why when the rear tailgate is up it would interfere with a back canopy/awning.

This is a $35 delivered Ebay Rev sensor & quite accurate comes with a hole saw for the sensors & easy to fit. The sensors are the round black things by the reflectors. It came with 4 sensors but im only using 2 & it works well. Should have removed the cobwebs, doesnt seem to afect it though.

ZedJay, make sure of what it is you want.
reversing sensor's and reversing camera's are almost the same, will only work when you are in reverse gear.
Rear vision camera give you a view behind your car, and van if fitted with a camera on the van, do NOT get the wireless type if your van is over 16ft, radio signal may not work too good

Have sensors and camera and mirrors.
If I have to give up one, it would be the sensors.
As a solo nomad, I like this idea of having 2 views. The extra one on the front of the caravan would make it easier for me to line up the car. I also plan to get a couple mate.

Beth, both those options are not very good, the screen is to small, get one with at least a 5inch screen, do not waste your time with that couple gadget.
Get a good rear view camera with two cameras, one on the rear of your van the other on the rear of your car pointing to the tow ball.
These are not cheap but well worth the money, I have this system on my rig

Yes, I see what you mean, that screen is too small. I'll have to re-think. Thanks Wombat.

Hubby has just installed a rear viewcamera on the back of both ute and caravan. We have a 7 inch screen mounted on the dash. Large screen makes everything easier to see. We got a really good deal off Elinz on Ebay. $288 the lot. Will be going out on the road in a month and try it out.
cheers

Thank you all so much for sharing your advice. It has been very helpful. Also I did not know there was a difference between a rear view camera and a reversing camera.
