Has anyone heard of problems with suspension in the Viscount Newport caravans. We are looking at updating to shower & toilet, looking at 2004 Viscount Newport full van but a dealer said check the suspension on the Viscount, an old english design ?

Can't really help Peter as I'm right out of my league on these issues but it does occur to me that checking the suspension is not a bad idea in any 2nd hand purchase.

Peter, The dealer doen't have a clue what he's talking about. Some of the older Viscounts (Aerolite) had the German Alko IRS, but a 2004 model was bulit by a different company and will undoubtably have a beam axle(s) with leaf springs. Ozjohn.

Why does that not surprise me? Two caravan dealers we saw tried very hard to sell us a caravan heavier than we stipulated, and got nasty when we said no. Good luck with finding your chosen type of van Aroundthetraps, dont let salesmen put you off.

Hi ...
When I go shopping for things like caravans (which is a rare event), on the first round I am really assesing the staff & the yard/shop, rather than their stock.
This way I get to deal with an organisation that I am comfortable with.
If a salesperson knocks the opposition's product rather than trying to sell theirs by highlighting its features, then they are off the list. If its bad enough I give feedback to the sales manager.
