What state is Coledale in? There are heaps of places around Oz like this, but a starting point would be handy - you will love life on the road I am sure - just take your time, and come on here often, you will be amazed at the information available to you - and the friendly people you will meet - get yourself to a gathering if there is one in your area - great way to meet up with fellow travellers - most of all - enjoy!

G'day ..
Beaut spot and close to the 'Grand Pacific' bridge & Nat Park.
We 'discovered' Coledale recently but had already set up at Bulli. Pitty they don't have many powered sites, at least for those like us who have minimal battery back up.
Which direction are you heading?
There are lots of beach front sites around the place but getting a bus into some might be difficult.
One we stayed at on the last trip was Mallacoota, Vic. Hundreds of seafront sites with sights/views. Many of them would suit your rig. We'd be regular visitors there if it was 1500km closer to Brisbane.

Thanks for the info, we will probably head south for the hot months and then back up north for winter.

do you have a copy of Camps 6, if not you need to get a copy it's referred to as the bible, it will save you thousands of $ (@ newsagents or caravan/camping shops)

You can buy a version of Camps 6 that has pictures of many of the sites. It is more expensive, but will give you a better idea of the suitability of sites.

You can also purchase it from your local auto club (NRMA, RACQ etc) at a discount if you have membership.

We have the new Camps 6 with pictures and while its helpful, we found many many other places on our last trip. As you said Lost Gypsy, use other sources as well.... as many as possible! There are web-sites that have pictures of caravan parks, we've found some nice places using the internet, although not all C/P's get a mention. Google "Pictures of Caravan Parks" ... you'll be surprised what you find. Also Badgers Caravan Reports.
Theres very little free camping any more along the coast South of Sydney, and its gold to find a caravan park as you have described. Definitely putting Coledale in our "Black Book".

We have just left Dolphin Point near Ulladulla NSW. It was absolutely magic. The caravan park: Dolphin Point is right on the beach, not sure if the bus would fit in the turning circles. Great place though and worth a look, not far from you, down the South Coast.
