Good advice, in this case though, it is believed that the woman was "snffing" a pressure pak can and then lit a cigarette....BANG!!!

Looks like most of the visible damage was done by the rescue mob cutting out door pillar etc for access. And I agree, if the can exploded it would't be likely to cause that much damage, but if the contents of the can escaped into the car and and the resultant air/fuel mixture were of the right proportions (1.8% - 8.4%), the car itself would become a potential bomb. Just how many butane cans this would take though is the question?

If you look at where the side pillar was its been cut through. Ive seen this sort of damage to vehicles by rescue people before. They cut through the center pillar & then tear the doors of.

Irrespective of the actually vehicle damage and who or what caused it be left in no doubt that even in an empty gas cigarette lighter there is enough force to turn the roof line of a Commodore into one that resemble a VW bettle and kill all inside. Last year there were a number of cases involving gas explosions cause by the transport of gas bottles and they aren't all tradies vehicles. Search the net a they're all reported and illustrated there for all to see
Years ago when traveling the F3 to work I observed a women driving at speed in the flowing traffic doing her hair finally pulling out the hair spray to give it a spray .What's wrong I hear you say , nothing if she wasn't smoking at the time I was on the brakes that fast trying to put a free kill zone between her and me suddenly there was a flash and the car was a blaze with her in it. Not such a pretty lady any more
