Today is not a good day. With heavy hearts and many tears we said goodbye to our little Benny today. I often think of him heading straight to the Lake when we arrived and just standing in the shallows. Even Molly didn't upset him. He continued to deteriorate when we came home and then suffered kidney failure this week.
After 15 years of being a part of our family, we certainly will miss him.

I knew as soon as I saw the heading. So sorry to hear little Benny is gone, he was a dear little soul. I can still see him standing in the water, taking a drink. It's like losing my Mindy all over again. As I said there at the lake, He was the spitting image of my Mindy, I got all emotional every time I gave him a pat or just watched him making his way slowly over to our voices. A few tears have fallen as I write this, hopefully he will meet up with Mindy and they can chase the butterflies together.

dogs are such faithful friends, know how you feel, so sorry.
SO SORRY ! Ted and Robyn, As you can tell from my avatar, I am a doggy person thru and thru, and as such over the years have been where you are now, so i know it is a bl--dy deep hurt and will stay that way for a while.
I could say look at the happiness and joy you have given him, and in turn he has given you, But today it is all about the loss, but those memories will help in time, I have no doubt he lived a full and happy life in your care,
So once again so sorry to hear of your loss Daryl and Renata

So sorry for your loss. Benny looks so much like my sisters little Missy. She was around that age too. Sadly the heat of last summer coupled with their move to Cooloola Cove was too much for the old girl.
Very sad to lose you beloved pet.

Sorry to hear about Benny.. My thought are with you
God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered, Come with Me. With tearful eyes we watched him slowly fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, playful paws were put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

That's sad news. My little 15yo Oz terrier only has a short time to go - heart failure. It's so hard to say goodbye after all those years, or anytime really. They are such good friends to us mere humans. But our lives are better for having shared it with them. Doesn't make it any easier though.

Thank you from the depths of my heart for your kind words and thoughts. I know a lot of you will understand how we are feeling at the moment.
Marj, I can see why Benny reminded you so much of Mindy.
We will not get another dog of our own until we finish travelling, but will still get our dog fix when our grand dogs come to visit and be minded.
We will rattle around our house even more now without 3 or 4 dog beds spread throughout the house.
Think tomorrow will be a day of rest. Its been a long last few days.
Thanks again, we really appreciate it.
Robyn
P.S Lilly, thanks for the poem. It is spot on.

Hi HW, it's almost as though they were twins. I think we can all feel the loss as we can associate with Robyn & Ted feelings for a loved friend.
I had a magnificent labradour for 17 years; through good times and bad he was always there........and sometimes he wasnt. Like when he thought he really was a "retriever"and wander off for hours through the bush "retrieving". His best effort was a long dead, dehydrated hare flattened by traffic. To this day I can see him walking down the track, dropping it at my feet and saying "beat that".
We love them as family and we miss them dearly.
cheers,

Dear Robyn & Ted. We are fellow travelers with our Angel & Molly and our hearts go out to you both for your loss. It's amazing just how much love they give without even being asked for it. May you be able to remember Benny and all his little ways long into the future. In our prayers. Brian & Cheryl
