The free camp at Chatsworth Park , just north of Gympie has been closed .
Completely fenced off so nobody can get in there . 147 in Camps 5 .
The one at six mile creek , south of Gympie is still open .

Stayed at six mile in March this year. Chatsworth Park was washed out at the time & sodden, no caravans there but there was a few campers. There were the the tell tale signs of where cars & vans had chewed up the soft camp area leaving large, deep wheel tracks in their wake. This would have taken a bit of restoration as the park had an otherwise beautiful outlook, so maybe this had something to do with the council's actions. Who knows? As we responsible nomads say, leave a camp in better shape than you find it if you can, or at the least as you find it.

Well sometimes there's a light at the end of the nomadic tunnel. We are in the habit of jumping to the conclusion that the free camp site is closed forever. It seems this will not be the case in Gympie district. The fact that it's being upgraded will be a bonus for future campers.

We were there in about june & it was very wet & boggy & has been that way the last couple of years. Considering that it is beside a lagoon & a small creek it is naturally a wet area. so good to see that it is being fixed rather than closed as it is a nice area.

Currently traveling in the SW corner of Qld Neil. Have not yet made it to WA but it is definitely on my 'must visit' list. Also traveling full time (well almost) but need to get home (reluctantly) to get the house sorted and sold.
