I was in the queue at my local shopping centre, and did a double take at the lady in front of me. 'Lynette?' Yes, it was our very own AnimalCarer.
Lovely lady, as we all knew she'd be.
There you go Lynette, I've changed my avatar.
I had the advantage, you see, because I knew what she looked like.

That would have been a surprise for both of you Beth. You don't live too far apart I understand, so it was bound to happen sometime. I bet you had a good chat.

Yes, Marj, I guess it was bound to happen. David and Laura aren't far away either. Should arrange a cuppa together.

My cousin took this photo while I was at Cooloola for b-i-l's 60th recently.
The colour was all wrong, so wombat 'fixed' it for me.

They recognise my car before they recognise me. A lady bailed me up in the car park of a shopping centre in Salisbury, SA. We had a l-o-n-g chat over coffee and agreed to catch up again, but it hasn't happened. She tried once but I was away at work. Now I have t-shirts with that pic on them. I try to keep my head down, but even in the dunny of the park in Cairns I got cornered by Ma, met Blue and had a great time which has evolved into a great friendship. You just never know where GN's will turn up.

A couple of nomads I have met through this site are now, in my opinion, life long friends, hey Chris and Fly. and as time evolves those others we have met and those we are yet to meet will end up on the same list I'm sure.

Yep mate true as.
Have spoken to Chris and the Mongrel and I think they will become lovely friends as well.
Ma and I met through Ma organising the trip to Mudgee. It was a fabulous few days and we have stayed in contact ever since.
Elbe and Debe were another couple there, love them to bits as well.
Met up with Jon when he was driving through my town and had a coffee with him. Ace bloke as well, with Justcruisin and his beloved and a few more that, at this hour of the night, elude me.
All people you would not hesitate to open your door to.

I purposely didn't put any more names because I have met so many of you and like Fly says at this time of night it's easy to miss someone and would hate to offend anyone.
Chris and Fly are the first two nomads I met so it's easy to remember them.

My problem is getting their user names mixed with their real names. Some I remember for a particular reason. You Ma, for instance, I have a cousin named Elaine, so that wasn't so difficult.
I can honestly say now, that I have friends all over Australia, as well as heaps of rellies.

Totally agree Beth, usernames and connecting to real names can be a bit hazardous when we meet up. Thinking thinking, Oh yes, hello Beth, yours is easy.
Don't know why I used a username in the first place.

Well, it seems to be the done thing, to have a username, but I've never worried about it. I don't think some crazy stalker is going to find me just with my first name. I only put the numbers on because some sites won't take a name so short as Beth.
I don't think I've called you Happywander since the first day we 'talked'.
Then again, some people like to remain totally anonymous. Horses for courses, I guess.

Hi Beth and Marj.
I only have a user name because when I joined GN's (1st August, 2009), I tried to use my own name and couldn't because there was already another member with the same name. I then tried a few variations but they were apparently already in use too. I then decided that since I have always had the "Travel Bug", I would try that. It worked...and here I am!!
Cheers

Ann is my middle name too Marj. And of course, my christian is really Elizabeth, but I'm only ever called that in an official capacity.
Or when someone's trying to get my attention.
ie: My sister, 'Elizabeth, I'm talking toyou!' Needless to say, she's the eldest.

My mother said nobody was allowed to call me Johnny but she was the worst culprit. When she called me John I knew I was in for a sore backside.
