Just wondering if anybody is meeting this ship to tassie.
My father in law is going on it but is a bit daunted about crossing the melbourne cbd with his tray back camper.
Is anybody else meeting up or going as a group to go through the cbd.

Melbourne a difficult city to negotiate, especially if trying to bypass tollways. What a nightmare! If you have an etag you can slip straight through town to the ferry berth. The GPS would be able to get you right there if you have all the details. Good luck.

I think the RACV have a guide program. You could check with them.

Geoffmaree,
I've done the trip and found my GPS had us snaking around a few of the streets which I thought was odd but it did guide us in.
My suggestion would be to go to google maps and study the route and print off the directions along with some of the turns. In all, it's not too hard first time. We took the late sailing each way so we could rest in a comfortable bunk.
Tassie is Great ! Going back next year for a longer stay.

Which direction is he coming from? Coming from Sydney is not so bad. You good the west gate and turn left as you come off not going through the city. Coming from Bendigo area they seem to be working on the roads a bit closer to the city and even I get confused as to which run off to take. Tess

Watch out for the low bridge on Montague St, it's been horrific for some...
