No more Fray Bentos Corned Beef. I receieved an official e-mail from Cambells Soups (They are now the owner of the Fray Bentos name in Australia). They have stopped producing the produce since sales were too slow and they could not justify production. I failed to buy and consume enough?
What am I going to do now for corn beef hash and corn beef and pickle sandwiches. Life will never be the same.
Thanks to all those with advise and info, stop looking for me, it aint there no more.

Ah Fray Bentos corned beef - a staple of my childhood days in Pommieland.
I have to say that I don't actually think I could stomach it these days. All those little globs of fat - yuk.
Still, for an addict (like you) it must indeed be a sad day.

Can't remember whether it was Kraft, or one of the meatworks, like KR Darling Downs used to produce a tinned Corned Meat.
Haven't looked for it for a long while though. Will do just that when I post this.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Just did some Googling, and found 3 home-grown brands that I remember seeing in shops years ago.
K R Darling Downs, Dandy, and Huttons.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Tim..
I know how you feel. When milk in bottles with cream on top disappeared in favour of homogenised milk, I thought the world would end. But we find substitutes, move on and develop a taste for something else.
Tinned corned beef has been part of our emergency food kit for years now - when travelling in remote places.
The system with our 'emergency food kit' is we pack a selection of long lasting foods we really don't like - so tinned corned beef is one of the 'staples' we'll eat when starving and there's nothing else left.
You could try one of the dozen or so flavours (ugg) of Spam, or wade through a selection of canned dog food.. There's bound to be one that comes close to the taste of Fray Bentos corned beef.
