A young girl has been flown to Westmead Hospital in Sydney after suffering serious burns at a caravan park on the NSW south coast.
The 12-year-old girl from Engadine, in Sydney's south-west, was visiting relatives at a caravan park in Culburra Beach on Monday night.
Police say they were sitting in front of the campsite near a steel canister with an open flame that was providing "mood lighting".
It is believed one of the adults began to refuel the canister with ethanol when a gust of wind caused the flame to jump onto the girl's hair and clothes.
Witnesses say her parents quickly smothered the flames and rushed her to a nearby shower.
The girl suffered burns to 35 per cent of her body and is currently in a serious but stable condition.

I just read that too, would it be one of those new type ones that I saw in aldi the other day, ethanol fuelled. When I looked at it, I thought gee that doesnt look very safe.

Those things dont look safe to me at all - there are apparently indoor and outdoor ones - both use ethanol, but different formula for each. People have used the outside ones indoors with very unpleasant results. you can buy the "fires" on line pretty cheaply, which is why people are using them I suppose.

For me i cant understand why you would refuled it around people anyway ... There has been so many accidents over last year or two make me very wary about fuel stove or light .... And even more so around kids

What do you call a "plumber's crack" on a woman? Maybe it's the "back crack"? Maybe not.
Perhaps stop reading the news. Life can be miserable enough without reading and watching the news. It is heartbreaking and tragic, but read it and leave it. We all have our dramas of life. I don't need everyone else's to add to my own.
