Thanks guys, when it comes to the automated ones I either keep pressing wrong buttons or don't speak at all they both work too.

What I am also sick and tired of is talking to somebody who is not in Australia and doesn't speak English well and you have to keep asking them to repeat what they said, with these ones I now ask to be transferred back to their Australian office ( not always successful ) and I also when asked to speak with a machine usually say something like goolygoolygumdrop and am regularly then told I am being put through to an operator.

that also works well with centrelink or so I am told by some old people I know.
being told "hold on please ' or you get an answering machine every time you phone a company, well here's a cheat sheet to help you bypass those.
