Tried to check out the Hotels and Motels on the internet in the Hunter for an overnight stay so we can see the lights at the Hunter Valley Gardens.
No direct phone numbers to any motel however on ringing a 1800 no listed, I was surprised by the accent. On my querie as to who I was speaking to as I had trouble understanding them.
Yep India, they apparently arrange bookings for Hotels and Motels.
I advised them I had no intension of giving them my personal details and hung up.
I have now booked into the Big 4 minus the van, cheaper as well.

Went to see the lights a couple of weeks ago. They are alright, not spectacular though I don't think.
A few stalls there for food and drink and reasonable prices. My daughter works there so we were at a discounted rate for entry.

Can recommend the Thai restaurant at the Big 4. As I recall the Big4 reception will take bookings.

Just back from the Hunter Valley Gardens light show , thought it was quite good , suggest you go out of school holiday times so you can get photos without some strange kids head in your photos.
Stayed in the Big 4 cabin overnight at Cessnock ,not too bad but would have prefered our van. Disapointed with the Thai restaurant though.

Thats a shame Dick, its usually a lovely meal there when the Thai chef is doing the meals. I have been there many many times and its always been great.
I talked to a local a few weeks ago who said it was not as nice.
Glad you enjoyed the light show mate, it does get crowded thats for sure.
