The only places we have been in that area were National Parks, sorry not dog friendly. Good luck!

I've just come through that region but didn't see any which grabbed my attention. Good luck with that.

A little outside your specified area however we stayed at the Little Styx River Campground (Camps 6 NSW 301) years ago. Great spot and pet friendly.
Near the entrance to the New England National Park, West of Dorrigo.

Not quite on the main drag but I can highly recommend Bundarra on Thunderbolts Way. CAW6 #161
Nothing at all at Stanthorpe, it is very unfriendy with regard to free cmaping.

I was looking in that area on Xmas Day, for my daughter and s-i-l..with their dog.
Camps 6 #138...Basket Swamp Campground may suit you Gitsho.
24 kms NE of Tenterfield, off Mt Lindesay Hwy, via Lindbrook Rd and Basket Swamp Rd. Might be be slippery when wet. Toilets, no showers. Dogs allowed.
I haven't been there, but if it's good, post it on the Freecamps thread of GN's.

We are mapping our way down and plan to stay at the Mother of Ducks Lagoon 158 in camps 6 just above a place called Guyra 30 k's above Armidale, it says it's dog friendly scenic and free. If anyone has been there let us know if it's a good choice.

I noticed that one too, and will be curious to know if it's nice. Sounds nice, even by the name!

I will have to wait till we get back to let everyone know what the choices we make turn out like as our lap top has died and with two ex office computers to kill I can't justify the purchase of a new one - but these fandangle ipads have got my interest. :-0

I know what you mean. I was 'lucky', my desktop was old and slow, so I was justified in buying a new laptop early last year.
