ABOUT 100 firefighters are still tackling a blaze in rough terrain at Woolundunga, 25km south east of Port Augusta, this morning.
About 100 firefighters are tackling the blaze in rough terrain near Wilmington Rd (Horrocks Pass) and National Highway One.
The fire has burned about 1000 hectares and is continuing to expand towards the north west, in the general direction of Spear Creek and south west towards Tattiwa Spring.
The Wilmington Rd has been closed between National Highway One and the town of Wilmington. It is likely to remain closed for some time, the CFS reported.
Fire crews are using using water bombers and heavy machinery to try to bring the blaze under control.
No properties are currently under threat but police did evacuate campers from an abandoned caravan park as the fire headed towards it in a north-easterly direction.
I know some members have recently stayed at Wilmington

UPDATE:
THE Country Fire Service has warned the Woolundunga fire, burning out of control near Wilmington, is threatening properties.
The CFS will hold a public meeting at the Wilmington Oval at 7pm to brief locals about the fire, which has burnt an estimated 2600 hectares since yesterday.
More than 120 fire fighters are battling the blaze with the support of fixed-wing, water bombing aircraft.
The fire has started to head easterly towards Yapoona Springs, Long Valley, Mount Brown, Gunyah Rd and Dean Searles Rd.
It earlier expanded north-west towards Spear Creek and south-west towards Kiora Creek and Nectar Brook Rd and is burning in rough and, often, inaccessible terrain.
The Wilmington Road between National Highway One and Wilmington, and Spear Creek Road, (locally known as Old Wilmington Road) and the Heysen Trail, between Wilmington and Quorn, are closed.
For the interest of South Australians in particular and anyone else interested in CFS SA 'goings on' may be interested in this site. It gives up to date daily reports of what is happening throughout the state.
As an ex South Alien I have a look every day.
Wish I could find something similar for WA.
Cheers Neil

Yep, have seen that one but it is ONLY for warnings,(which is useful of course) I like the CFS one as it list all incidents they attend be they fire, alarm, crash etc complete with report time, clear time etc.
Also you can change to Map View to see exactly where an incident is which is good for all those areas that have been invented since I left 33 years ago..
Cheers Neil
