Hi all ..
There is definitely a growing festival attitude both in and around Tamworth.
I frequently take a ride around the Riverside area .. and also have now met a few of the motorhomers and vanners down there already .. They are parked-up parallel to the road at the moment as they are not permitted to set up just yet and as Lilly said, from the 13th they will then reverse in so that fronts are facing the road (which is a "flood evacuation" requirement) and setup for the duration.
Currently the boundary fence-lines are being established around the grounds so the local activity level is definitely growing.
Remember your personal security .. stow items away overnight ..

Yes Jon personal security is very important ..but also in day time as when you leave your camp site put every away lock up as much as possible ...... Just because there is a lot of people doesnt always mean your belonging are safe if out in open ..... Tamworth is no different to any large gathering of people always a few ready to take advantage to line their own pockets .....

Unfortunately am now back in the office. Itching to get to the CMF one year, what a party that would be.
However just had a very nice week at Austin C/P at Tamworth. Left there Monday and travelled home to Newcastle.
Good luck to all those going.
Maybe next year.......

Hey jonathan, if I'm not mistaken your avatar shows that you were up on the lookout too. We went up there a couple of times, once after dark to see the lights. You could have even been there same time as me. Where did you stay at while at Tamworth?

Hi Ross .. I arrived here about a week ago (at the Tamworth North Holiday Park out at Namingha .. Apparently the lookout road has been recently closed for renovations due to local hoons .. now its not open at night .. not sure if there are any current intentions to reopen for the full 24 hrs again .. not according to the signage posted anyway ..

I passed through there 2 weeks ago late at night and I couldn't find a caravan park willing to take me in. All locked up at 8.30pm, so I stayed at a motel for 1 night. A little luxury after all that camping with the truck, but I would have rather been camping. Not knowing the town, it was easier to motel it, and even then, I had to find one that was still open. Don't people book in after 5pm?

If anyone is having trouble finding a site for the TCMF check our the Kootingal Caravan Park about 20 kms out of Tamworth. Excellent park, clean facilities and reasonably priced. We stayed there in 2009 for the festival and the chinese food at the Kootingal Bowls Club was delicious at $7.50 per head and delivered piping hot to your table!

Jon, the lookout road has a boomgate which is lowered at 10pm and reopened at 6am. I guess to dissuade the local hoons. We went up about 9ish one night and there were a few groups of youngies hanging around and drinking. They were making a bit of noise and we just went over to the lookout for a short while then took off.
CG, we stayed at Austin C/P a little on the Armidale side of town. We heard a bit of a rattle about 11pm one night and had a look out the window. I van had pulled in near us, staying connected. I mentioned to the wife that I thought they'd take off early and most likely not pay. Sure enough they started their engine a little before 6am and left. Got no idea whether they paid or not.
